Visited for the first time, at lunchtime, we were given a warm, friendly welcome and seated immediately. The choice of food from the main and lunch menus were excellent, plus options for a specials menu. 
Duck chips are a thing and are delicious. My steak was easily one of the best I’ve had and they serve rhubarb crumble which is a personal favourite. All 3 courses for my wife and myself couldn’t be faulted. 
Highly recommended and will visit again.

We stayed one night here as a couple. 

I understand the accommodation has recently opened here and we were pleased with the room which was lovely, with a good size bathroom, hot shower and comfortable bed. 

We didn’t have breakfast here but ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a few drinks in the bar during the day. 

The staff were very welcoming, the food and drink was great and overall we were really pleased.

Was camping nearby so booked a table. Dog friendly, excellent gluten free choices. Food was delicious. Totally recommend the goats cheese and Sea bass. The service was spot on. Sat in the Lavender Barn which was just perfect. Will most definitely be coming back. Thank you for a lovely evening. Totally recommend 

We dropped in for a meal after cycling by the canal. The food was absolutely fantastic, the staff was lovely and the service was spot on! We will definitely be back again. They even got us some scraps for our dog.

We booked an outside table for lunch; in the beautiful courtyard area. The staff were really welcoming , friendly and efficient. The Covid procedures were well explained and were not too onerous and I felt very safe. The food was delicious with large portions and we were not rushed. I would definitely recommend it for lunch and then we had a walk along the canal beside it.

Met up with for lunch with family today at the Great Western Arms. Great food in a buzzing atmosphere in the small open barn at the back. It wasn’t warm today but no problem here as they had heaters and individual blankets to ensure we weren’t uncomfortable. 
The main courses were delicious (three of us had the Lamb and one the Monkfish). 
The servers also got it just right .... not just friendly and professional, but seemed genuinely pleased to welcome us. 
Thanks for making our visit so special, we look forward to coming back. 


We visited this canal side pub as a large family group. The waiter was so friendly, welcoming and helpful; it was no problem to modify a dish for one of our party. The selection for vegetarians was excellent. We also enjoyed the real ale on tap. The presentation and flavour of the food was excellent and the meal as a whole was great value for money. We enjoyed it so much, we came back for another meal a fresh days later on our trip - I would be happy to travel soMe distance to eat here. 

I just have to write a review about the great western arms. What an amazing find! The pub feels very Covid safe. The staff are so friendly and reassuring, but the main event is the food. I had the sea bass. It was absolutely delicious and by far the best pub meal I have ever had. We really enjoyed our evening in the great western arms and will definitely return. 

Excellent roast beer dinner and sticky toffee pudding. Delightful staff and dog friendly. Close to the Oxfordshire canal which we walked along prior to lunch. Good selection of Gins and wine. Nice cosy ambience inside.

We went for Sunday Lunch and loved it, generous portions, friendly staff, delicious food and lovely setting, warm and cosy. Will definitely come back again. 

Also, it is tucked away in the Cotswold, great if you want a lovely dinner and a warm welcome.

Fabulous!

This is a delightful pub with very friendly staff and delicious food. Despite feeling like it was in the middle of nowhere, which it probably is not, the pub was busy and we were lucky to get a table without a reservation... and this was on a TUESDAY.

It really is the type of place you are made to feel instantly welcome and that you would like to spend a long, lazy afternoon or evening there. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Wish we could have spent longer here

We have been here many times and the food is amazing but unfortunately they let themselves down last night as after our meal we moved away from our table as they were keen to clear away, which was fine so we moved into the bar and asked for some coffee only to be told the coffee machine had been cleaned and was switched off now. It was only 10.15pm. A little disappointing considered we had just spent £240 for four of us :( 

Excellent Food

Visited in June 2023 for an evening meal. Walked from our nearby campsite. The food was good and fair portions. The beer (Hook Norton pub) was excellent. The 12% service charge (although optional) is bit unnecessary for a table of 2 pub meal. Chances are we'd have left a tip anyway!
