Exceptional food & service. My Husband commented that his main was one of the best meals he had.  The Bath Arms was so good we returned two days in a row!! Our puppy Billie was welcomed with open arms. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Sue who served us. Thank You & hope to return soo n 🤩

Lunch

A warm welcome and a well judged menu- some interesting choices including a crumpet with cheese and crispy ham hock, followed by succulent belly pork with black pudding. There is clearly a craftsman in the kitchen. Only let down was indifferent coffee. I do hope their reputation spreads quickly as there were only 3 occupied tables for a Friday lunch, and they deserve to succeed.

A relatively new- and welcome- arrival on the local food scene.

Fabulous food and the service was excellent.  I had the specials which were delicious.  Wild garlic soup, followed by steak, perfectly cooked. Dessert was also a wow I had the rhubarb and custard.!! Thank you, will be back soon.  Keep up the good work

Fabulous Food and Excellent Service

Brilliant service from Toby. Lovely wine lovely log fire great atmosphere we really enjoyed our evening here thanks to the attentive service from Toby.
Toilets could be a bit warmer but apart from that it’s a lovely pub and we enjoyed our evening.

Had weekday lunch.  Staff very pleasant and food ok but whole lunch was spoilt by a very strong smell of cooking, rather like a fish and chip shop.  Toilets up staircase and bit of a muddle between gents and ladies. Don't think that is where smell came from but it needs addressing before we rerurn.

Enjoyed a delicious and perfectly executed Sunday dinner, rare roast beef, horseradish cream, crispy roast potatoes, fresh vegetable sides and the best Yorkshire pudding. 
We had a selection of desserts to share at the table, chocolates, millionaires shortbread and my favourite lemon posset… absolutely delicious, I couldn’t fault it!

New favourite pub!

We nearly didn't go having read some of the reviews, so glad we did. This isn't one of your High Street chain pubs. The decor is in perfect harmony with the beautiful building. We were welcomed by the staff. The food was excellent with good sized portions. 

You need to go and try for yourself. Our experience was excellent.

Used to love the Bath Arms - proper wet bar, simple but well-delivered food, great vibe. After sooooooo long in the refurbishment, I really hoped for so much more. The bar to the right on entering (it used to all be part of the same bar area) is spartan and lacks any warmth (in the welcoming sense). The owner has a nice approach to only wishing to stock local ales, but their dispense at the moment (and has been since opening, apparently) is dire - it takes about 3 pints to get 1 drinkable one (but what is delivered is fine, so really their problem if they can afford the waste - as long as that doesn't start to get reflected in the price , expect £4.50-£5/pint of ale). Service is absolutely lovely, although some staff are clearly still learning the ropes - entirely understandable and acceptable). The biggest disappointment, by a long way, was the food. It's not cheap, nor expensive, but in my view does not represent value-for-money - most importantly, the quality isn't there. It's nice to see a relatively short menu, as that suggests that there aren't a million-and-one dishes pre-prepared coming out of the freezer, but what turns up on the plate didn't hit my particular spot. My daughter is vegetarian and had a risotto, very bland. Son-in-law's burger was an ok burger, but expensive for what it is. Wife had fish'n'chips, good chunky chips and a lovely piece of fish with good crispy batter. I had the "catch of the day", which was pollock (not an expensive fish to buy, so felt cheated by a portion that was less than half the size of my wife's) It was also meant o be served with confit potatoes, but they were plain boiled new potatoes with a few tomatoes thrown in. I revisited the following day to sit in the lovely gardens for a couple of pints, which was all very pleasant (as were different staff on the day). Until I hear good reports from people whose opinions I respect, I will not be eating there again, but wish them well in getting to the standard to which I am sure they aspire.

Well short of hopes and expectations for this old haunt

Just had a most enjoyable evening at this newly opened pub/restaurant. The service was very good throughout our evening, Millie took great care in looking after us, the food & wine were excellent, a lovely & well presented meal both main courses & deserts. Yes it is early days but certainly will have no hesitation in returning there again, thank you.

Had such high hopes for the restored pub in our lovely  home town filled with beautiful memories....sadly disappointed . Perhaps first impressions overshadowed but the staff unfortunately ensured a poor first impression.
The well spoken young lady made sneering remarks about the lack of anything available pointing dismissively to the locals bar and highlighting the fact it was unfinished and beware of paint smells????? You were intending this to be a positive...how? This is not tea shop when enquiring food availability??? Oh dear! Only to be followed by two young staff members eating from breakfast bowls at the bar! No staff room then??
All in all a huge disappointment and would not be either be recommending nor returning! Such a shame hugely disappointing 🫠
