Absolutely beautiful spot with stunning views. It was perfect for a toddler! We didn’t have the best weather but when it was dry we made the most of the play area and took part in the animal feeding too which we all loved. The hosts are so friendly and there’s an option for cooked breakfast which was delicious! We had two and they’re very reasonably priced too! 
So well placed to explore north Devon too, lots to do locally for young families :)
We stayed in the sty as our little one is only one and it was small but perfectly formed -beautiful and simple, with everything you could need and a lovely roll top bath too! Our next door neighbour was a pig, which our toddler loved- had to say goodnight to them every night! :)

Beautiful spot for young families

This place is amazing!! Fantastic for young children, great play areas and play equipment. Trampolines, ride on tractor and sand kitchen. The children absolutely loved it. It is also a working farm so a good learning opportunity for children, they even got to hold a chick and feed the animals. The cottage was great and very clean and we were left a lovely welcome basket with scones. The farmer and his wife were so helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be going back! 

Wonderful farm experience, great for families! 

Well if you want a totally peaceful out of the way and off-grid place (no mobile phone signal on O2) to stay, then Smallicombe farm is the place to go We had a very warm welcome from the hosts and Dizzy the dog and not to forget Merlin. We stayed in The Sty. We were greeted with fresh scones with clotted cream and jam, locally produced apple juice and some fresh milk, thank you we totally enjoyed that. Lovely size space, huge comfortable bed to get lost in. The bathroom was roomy and the bath was wonderful. Kitchen area was simple but there were plenty of places to go for a meal within a 15 min drive. Ideal location to go visiting surrounding area. We'll be back

Lovely pre-moon 

Perfect few days, enjoying the peace and the treats that the farm offers. Wonderful location for access to the coast path for a walker and couple who have enjoyed some memorable local gastro delights nearby. The Hayloft is spacious and very comfortable and with lovely touches, cream tea, fresh eggs...and option of cooked breakfast which was a delight.

Peace and tranquility!

We stayed in the Cider Barrel (3 bed) as a family of 3 plus my sister. On arrival there were scones with cream and jam waiting for us as well as thoughtful bits and pieces to help us settle in like a teatowel (to use and keep), toilet roll and some washing bits. The accommodation was perfect for our needs with comfy sofas, beds, spacious dining tables and powerful shower. 2 toilets really helped when getting ready to go out too! We paid extra to use the wood fired hot tub one evening which was amazing listening to birdsong and looking out over the fields. We also paid extra for a yummy (and reasonabley priced) cooked breakfast delivered to our front door when we asked. It was made using their own reared sausages and bacon.

There's plenty to do on the farm - feeding the local rare breed pigs and piglets in the morning with Ian, stroking the rabbits with Hattie, seeing the turkey, ducks, chickens, sheep or cows! The poultry was rightly shut in runs due to bird flu while we were there. We cuddled the 1 week old baby rabbits, 2 calves were born while we were there and more piglets were due to arrive the day we left. There is also great fairy trail that goes through fields, through some copses down to the brook and up a big hill which made a lovely family walk, some of this years lambs came to say hi as we made out way back down through their field. In the evening our little girl would go and knock next door for the little girl staying there and would spend a happy hour bouncing on the trampoline, playing on the swing or just inventing games to play. The farm feels very safe, it's on a single track road so only people stating there or the farmers family comes and goes but its within 10mins of Honiton,  15mins to axminster, 25mins to Lyme Regis and 40mins to Exmouth or Exeter. There's so much to do we're coming back to stay here next year!

Brilliant family holiday in Devon

This was our 3td stay at Smallicombe Farm since 2020. We love it because it is ideal for children, peaceful and relaxing. It's in a rural location in amongst acres of stunning farm land and fields. We've stayed in the Inglenook, the Sty and the Hayloft. Each accommodation has everything you'd need for a comfortable stay and it is always spotlessly clean. There's a play area with a sunken trampoline which is always popular with all ages of children staying there. The animal feeding is usually around 10am and you just arrange this with the owners in advance, the kids love feeding the chickens, ducks, turkeys and pigs. (don't forget their wellies) it's such a great experience for them to get close and feed the many animals. Merlin and Dizzy the farm/family sheepdogs are just lovely and full of energy. There are acres of beautiful fields to roam, amongst the farms cows and sheep. There's a fairy trail for the young ones and a little stream at the bottom for little adventures with nets. You can hire the hot tub for the evening, or the pizza oven (thoroughly recommended) Matt will bring out everything you need and show you how to make it. There are plenty of places nearby in East Devon to visit, Pecorama, the World of country life, Exmouth (great beach) Beer (quaint fishing beach and village) Sidmouth, Lyme Regis (beautiful seaside town). We also walk the llamas every year with Maggie at Peak Hill llamas. It's a working farm but incredibly peaceful and relaxing. You can't beat the beautiful view in the morning sat in the play park with a cuppa while your child is busy wearing themselves out on the trampoline. The owners Karen, Matt, Maggie and Ian are always in hand for whatever you may need, whether that's places to go, eat, see, walks to be had around the area or more logs for the fire (the Inglenook). It is in the middle of rural East Devon so bear in mind you will need to drive along narrow country roads and reversing for the odd tractor to get anywhere. It's a great unique base for your Devon holiday and very reasonably priced. The breakfast is lovely if you choose to order a platter, (they even popped some tinned tomatoes for me where I can't eat fresh ones).Children can have an unforgettable stay here with the animals, and generally if the kids are happy the adults are too. Thank you to the Smallicombe family for their hospitality and such a wonderful stay every time. 

Fantastic farm stay, especially for children. 

We stayed with our nearly two year old for a week! We had the most amazing family holiday! 
The hosts were very welcoming and chatty! 
The farm is in a beautiful location. The cottage we stayed in was very clean and comfortable. 
Our daughter loved being able to interact so freely with all the animals on the farm, she spent a lot of time watching the piglets! She loved watching the cows out of kitchen window! She spent a lot of time with the chickens, ducks and turkeys. She made friends with the dogs.
We spent plenty of time with the play areas, which are really well equipped. 
We were able to use the onsite pizza oven which is fully recommended and a lovely evening.
We even went on a fairy hunt around the farm.
We loved our time here, have already recommended to friends and would happily return!

Amazing family holiday!

We have just returned from our first stay on the farm.   We loved it.  We go abroad 6 times a year, but fancied a change.  The accommodation was clean, well presented and well thought out.  The owners were all so friendly.  The breakfasts we had delivered daily was beautiful.  We will definitely be going back.

Fantastic stay, to be repeated....

I can't recommend Smallicombe Farm enough. My hubby, 21 month old toddler and myself visited for a week and stayed in the Inglenook which was the perfect size for us. The apartment was cosy and clean and had all the facilities we needed. there was a handy guest book with lots of recommendations, which we took full advantage of for days out. On the farm we enjoyed helping to feed the animals with Farmer Ian, going on a short fairy trail (suitable for little legs), and playing with Dizzy the farm dog. We also had 2 cooked breakfast platters delivered which were delicious, and hired a pizza making kit to use in the outdoor pizza oven- Matt thankfully helped and showed us how to make garlic bread first! There were 2 play areas which my toddler loved; one with a play kitchen and smaller toys, and one with a sunken trampoline and bigger swings and slides- he loved both! His favourite thing was looking at all of the animals, especially the pigs and cows! The farm was also a perfect base for us to explore the gorgeous countryside and beaches nearby, and Karen and family were always happy to recommend places to visit and where to eat out. We absolutely loved our stay and plan on making it an annual trip!

Perfect family holiday

Had a lovely stay here, very clean, helpful owners and staff. Good location for touring Devon, would definitely revisit.😀Good wifi, great shower, bed was comfy, easy to find on sat nav, just what is needed for a self catering stay
