Friendly staff, comfortable room with a bath (always an advantage). We stayed two nights, one before going to the Netherlands, one on the way back. On the first visit we had an evening meal. The steak was a bit tough but it is best not to order steak under at least £20. I had the mixed grill which only had four meats including sausages (so three really), which isn't a mixed grill in the sense I know it, but it is cost again. My piece of steak was good, but the best meat was the gammon.

On our return we had the breakfast. The continental element t was generally good. The cooked element was not of a standard I like to see, eg it says premium sausage. I would never buy a sausage that low in quality. The bacon was certainly better than in the Netherlands, but then no one can do bacon like the British (I include the Irish in that - British Isles), but it wasn't good enough.

I did see a sight though. A chap at a nearby table received his cooked breakfast, used his fingers to pile it all on to a slice of bread, stuck another slice on top and proceeded to eat it as a sandwich. Pretty disgusting, especially the fingers, but we were in Essex.

Good when travelling

We have stayed here on numerous occasions and every time without fail the staff have engaged with my 2 year old. He always looks forward to staying in the "Moon Hotel".

Special shout out to Sandie as she always finds something to entertain the children, whether it's a beach pack for a day at the beach or a zoo pack for a day at the zoo. She even found some colouring in pictures of owls for my son as that happened to be the animal of the month for him.

Have always had a great night sleep whenever we have stayed here.

Pretty dissatisfied with this hotel it's a quiet hotel hardly anyone around yet they didn't get time to set up a 40th birthday request for our room

40th Birthday request was NOT fulfilled poor service

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding, the room was very basic with no AC and a strange smell but spacious and clean. The hotel bent over backwards for us to make sure I was comfy as I’m heavily pregnant although my room was very far from the entrance. Avoid Rooms from No.10 onwards if for any reason you can’t / don’t want to walk far. I would avoid the hot breakfast, it was tasteless, dry and must be ordered at the table only. The 2nd attempt gave myself and family upset tummies. Continental breakfast was better and self-service. Definitely overpriced for what was provided, paid £218 for a double room with breakfast.

Premier Inn Colchester A12 - a sad story

A Premier Inn is a Premier Inn is a Premier Inn - but this one felt a little better than some I’ve stayed in. Efficient, friendly staff - but without the over-familiarity one often gets these days.
The food and service in the adjacent TableTable pub was also very good and the meal deal was good value.

The hotel was at the expected Premier Inn standard; a clean hotel room and comfortable bed and pillows.

The Table Table restaurant however was very disappointing, the worst Table Table I’ve visited. 

Quality hotel, poor restaurant

This place needs a major cleaning. Everything is dirty. Rooms were smelly and dirty. Noise in the corridors and couldn't sleep. Breakfast area was so dirty, I don't even understand why they think people can eat there and the service was poor 

Terrible

I don’t normally leave reviews but felt something needs to change here.
First thing is, I tried to book online for £56 for one night, 3 times I tried while sitting in reception but every time it came up with an error, so ended up paying at the desk £71! Not happy that it wasn’t for the same online price. 
The beds were so uncomfortable I may as well have slept on the floor. Premier inn need to change their slogan, best nights sleep ever as it definitely wasn’t. 
I’ve slept at premiers before and never been disappointed but things have obviously changed. 
I can’t fault the cleanliness as this was spot on but as for comfort, and price I would have been better sleeping in my car.

Great stay as always , all staff are so friendly,  nothing is never to much trouble for any of them, we are aleays made to feel so welcome ,

Great stay 

My hubby and I wanted to have a Christmas meal on our own ahead of Christmas Day.  We chose Colchester because it's local, has a restaurant attached and we could use the Park & Ride to spend the day in town.  The hotel was as expected, clean and comfortable with friendly staff.  The Reception had been decorated really nicely with a balloon arch with photo opportunity, 2 Christmas trees and even a fireplace with stockings etc.  They had obviously gone to a lot of effort.  Our stay was very reasonable.  We had a nice time and would definitely stay again in the future.
