Lovely quiet week over Christmas, 4 great big bedrooms and an enormous living area.
Weather not great but a warm house and great hosts.
Well placed for both North and South Devon as well as walks within Dartmoor

Great Christmas Break 

We were book in the barn as self catering holiday let for 7nights we only stayed 4 
The barn is a really nice property but unless you are happy to share the outside space with the owners  birds tapping in the outside patio window ,The cat sitting at the door and their dog coming and using it as a toilet (which I did tell the owner about and had to ask him to pick up after it and it still kept happening ) I have contacted the owners and their reaction was it should not have happened as regards the dog they would as a gesture !! Offer me the nights we lost if another booking !
After explaining we can not come down south for a long time again  they still will not offer any refund !
Saying it was our choice to leave and we had t given them chance to put it right ! Really it shouldn’t even be needed to put right in a place that is suppose to be in a Luxury property .

Price of property does not justify

This was booked as a Christmas present and it did not disappoint. David and Sue were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely comfy bed and all the facilities you need. The breakfast was great and accommodated any type of breakfast requirement. Highly recommended staying here of you want to get away from it all and relax. The Globe Inn in Chagford was lovely and the food was very good. The Deli in Chagford is also worth a visit.

Happy New Year

A converted barn just outside the quant Chagford village in the beautiful Dartmoor national park ran by a friendly couple. Located just off a narrow winding country road adding even more character to the place. Very well kept establishment with modern furnishings but still keeping its traditional and homely aesthetic. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable, all en suite and in addition there is a communal kitchen and living room area as you walk into the place. A Full English and continental breakfast the next morning is included in the price of the room! Stayed here for a night after a family wedding and received excellent hospitality, regret not having stayed longer! This place really offers something different than your standard B&B/hotel and feels like a perfect getaway!

Idyllic B&B 

Well what can I say. What a hidden gem this place is. From the moment we arrived until we left we were made most welcome. The place is amazing David is a fabulous host. Our room was lovely downstairs with a view looking over fields and Dartmoor. I didn’t want to get out of the bed it was soooo comfy with fab pillows!! The breakfast was amazing all cooked freshly by David in the open plan kitchen so we could chat to him as he cooked!! The food was hot not greasy just what we needed. Shame we only had 1 night. We will definitely be back. Thank you David for your wonderful hospitality. 

Relaxing weekend away

Sue & David are the perfect hosts! Very attentive, accommodating and helpful and they really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The barn and rooms are beautifully designed, very clean and homely - comfortable beds and a lovely common area, plus there is plenty of parking available. David cooked us a very tasty full English breakfast which set us up perfectly for a day out on the moors! We felt very much at home and will definitely come back again soon!

Lovely Barn on Dartmoor 

We really enjoyed our stay at Higher Weddicott Farm. It has top class B&B accommodation and David and Susan are very friendly and helpful hosts with lots of local knowledge and other useful information. Our room had everything we could need and the communal breakfast and guest area was nicely laid out for relaxing during the day or in the evening. Our hosts were very happy for us to bring in our own food for dinner if we wanted to. The farm is an excellent base for touring or walking on Dartmoor and visiting places further afield. I was also able to do some wonderful birdwatching in the area. The local countryside with its towns and villages contains some of our favourite places in Devon. We will be back next year.

Top class B&B

Quiet n just out of the way. Lovely hosts and I was told if you book directly (sorry tripadvisor) then you get a free cream tea (phenomenal). Just up the road from Chagford and just down the road from Meldon  Hill, which is well worth the walk. Coming back for an anniversary as the Kings suite was amazing value.

Other reviews have commented on the cleanliness of rooms, warm welcome from David and Sue and truly fabulous full breakfasts, all of which I heartily endorse. We were fortunate enough to stay in idyllic sunny summer weather and the views of surrounding countryside really are beautiful.

Comments about some of the nearby roads being 'a bit narrow' are an understatement.....they are pure, tedious pain to drive. 'Car 5'6" wide, road nearly  6'0" wide' style. Very bad luck should you come across another vehicle coming the other way.

Rooms in the barn ARE very comfortable, but all upstairs bedrooms have velux style windows, which detract. The open plan downstairs layout is great but means anyone speaking or moving around there can be very clearly heard in the bedrooms above, which lessens the sense of privacy. It's a perfect spot to get away from it all, if that's what you want. Chagford is charming with great pubs and only about 2 miles away....but oh those lanes - could put you off going anywhere after dark.

In short, super accommodation in deep countryside with roads surrounding that the hosts are powerless to improve on! A warmer welcome would be very hard to find and breakfasts and the cream tea - fantastic!

Very good indeed, with some provisos

Had a very pleasant 3 days staying at Higher Weddicott Farm. Quality of the room was superb. Local area is really unique, being in a conservation, it's as if time stood still about 100 years ago. Really enjoyed the breakfast banter with our wonderful host David. Look forward to our next visit. Gerard and Cassandra.
