Our first visit to Northumberland and we stayed at The Bondgate Boutique for 3 nights. Ideally located in the town so access to all shops, restaurants etc only a short walk away. The building is lovely to look at and the rooms immaculate. Everything you could want and cleaned every day. Excellent option for a a stay in Alnwick and we will definitely stay again next time we come. No hesitation in recommending

Just lovely

Stayed in Room 5 this week.  Can honestly say, as a person that spends a lot of time in generic hotel rooms, this was the loveliest room I've stayed in for a long time.  Absolutely spotlessly clean, small and cosy, perfect for a single person and the bed was so comfortable.  With the winter discount, it was incredible value for the quality on offer.  I've already booked for Feb and March as a stop over on my way north to Scotland.  Looking forward to going back and wandering through the lovely town of Alnwick also.  Parking around the back could be a bit daunting for the less experienced as it's a very tight squeeze through the archway to the car park.  I wouldn't let that put you off though as there is ample parking nearby.

For me there are a couple of things is that could be tweaked, the door needs  a board added to the bottom as it’s about an inch above the carpet and the lights in the hall were shining through at night - didn’t know if I could or should turn the stairs lights off as there were other guests on the same floor - the door bar would easily fix the bright light 
We found it too hot and couldn’t open the window as on a main road but others I’m sure would love the added warmth. We turned the rad down but not sure if we turned if back up for the next guests 
Like the other reviews say, the bathroom is very compact and yes we could hear the saniflow system however it’s an old building so there will always be a compromise and it didn’t really impact us as we live in an old house 
All in all we would definitely stay there again as owners were lovely and location is fab 
Couldn't find the WiFi code but that could have been me being a little thick and missing where it was detailed 

Great location 

Location is close to restaurants,shops, Alnwick Castle  that makes it a perfect place to use as a base for exploring the area.
We stayed in what was referred to as a “small” room , was bigger than expected and easily to accommodate our luggage.
Daily servicing kept rooms very clean .
Car parking in Plough next door may be daunting on your first entrance as it’s quite tight , but once you have done it a couple of times it’s not a problem. 
From Alnwick to famous Banburgh castle is only 30 mins and easy to reach . Would also recommend Cragside house and estate.

Clean , great location

Lovely small boutique rooms very central to shops, restaurants and especially the beautiful castle and gardens. 
We stayed in room 6 upstairs at the front of the building. A busy road outside but with the secondary glazing a quiet stay. 
Everything we needed in the room, a comfy bed, great tea and coffee facilities with lots of choice, biscuits, chocolates and even a few sweeties. Nice touch. 
Neither of the lights however in the corner where the mirror/sockets are were working. One needed batteries and the other a strip light above the mirror. I did report it to the cleaner the second morning but benefit of the doubt she may have forgotten. 
The shower, beware, each morning became so hot it burned, just for a few seconds then cold! But as it’s only a small cubicle there isn’t anywhere to move out of the way. The owners really need to address this issue, sadly after emailing a week ago and resending the email yesterday I still haven’t had a reply. 
P.S. Breakfast served next door at The Plough highly recommended and cheaper than a cafe down the road.

Nice comfortable stay but not perfect.

Super location in Alnwick. Great value for money. Parking the car was very interesting.  Bathroom was a little disappointing, shower floor was very slippery when in use so quite difficult to use safely. Overall a lovely wee place to stop at . We eat at the Market Tavern which was excellent.

Great location in Alnwick

A very nice & enjoyable stay here. Cannot really fault anything. The loo a little noisy but fully accept the system installed. Very comfortable bed & room very clean with good daily replenishments of tea & coffee etc. An ideal location & great to have the car park so accessible. Would certainly stay again.

Excellent.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Bondgate Boutique and found it to be excellent. The bed was comfy and the location was quiet (we had a room at the back of the hotel). The place is spotlessly clean and the little extra touches such as biscuits and chocolates are very welcome! My only very slight negative was that the bathroom was chilly but soon warmed up when the fan heater was put on. The location is great, within walking distance of all that Alnwick has to offer and a good base for exploring the gorgeous Northumberland coastline. 
We would absolutely stay here again and plan on visiting with my in laws later in the year. 
Don’t forget to book directly with the hotel because we found the rates to be better than offered via other booking sites. 

Clean and comfortable 

Never stayed anywhere like it, but I'm 68 and can see this is a coming thing. No reception, you just get the doorlock code when you book. When you arrive, they've already told you which room you're in, so you go in the main door and the key is in the door of your room. Very simple and it works.
Our room was nice and clean, plenty of space and on the ground floor. Bathroom was the same. Some board games to play if the weather is bad. Our bay window looked out on the main road but not much traffic noise. The place is next to a great pub. Use it.

What, no reception?

Lovely little place to stay, it’s recommended! Charlotte is friendly, and responds to messages promptly in a professional and polite manner. The accommodation has potential that’s not quite realised ‘amazing’ but it could. My thoughts after a 3 night stay. 

We were shattered due to the beds- they’re more akin to a trampoline than a bed. We woke one another up as we moved throughout the night. Our bed at home has a quality mattress and unfortunately we know what good feels like. 

The cleaning staff are friendly but could do with being taught customer liaison skills. I don’t want anybody to lose their jobs- please teach your staff about etiquette and communication. 

Towels, hanging on a radiator which is right next to the toilet didn’t seem the most hygienic way of putting towels on the radiator. At least have the foot towel in the bottom nearest the porcelain rather than a body towel- us blokes are renowned  for a little spraying. It’s not intentional but a sit down wee is not deemed manly or necessary. 

Out of date milk in the fridge- please ensure all out of date foods for guests are relived from the fridge. 

On three occasions the property front door was left wide open- but a fault of the hotel but more the stupidity of guests. When the door is left open it presents the opportunity for theft! Please fit a closing mechanism to the front door.
