Druzhba Hotel

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Druzhba (friendship in Russian). The historical city center is an easy walking distance away, although it is down a relatively steep hill making it not so easy a walk back up. Accommodations are basic and clean. The hotel is soviet era and has that feel to it. So that may turn you off or be interesting to you from a historic point of view. The breakfast was good and served nicely. What we enjoyed the most is that this hotel was staffed by a bunch of older gentlemen. They were very nice, polite and service oriented. In my wife's words, they were cute. The receptionist, bell hop, breakfast waiter and host were all white haired gentlemen approximately 60 to 65 years old. It gave the hotel a different personality or character than any other hotels at which we have stayed. The price was good and since we were there to see the city and not the hotel, it didn't matter to us that the hotel was basic. Also... the view was great!
