I will definitely visit Ruanmai Resort again. We stayed 2 nights and I would love to have stayed longer. I found it very soothing.
It was unique in that the accomadation was very Thai rather than western influenced.
Màam was our hostess and was beautiful. Inside and out. She certainly looked after us. I have never met such a humble yet gracious person.
Breakfast was simple yet delicious. It kept me going all day.
I would highly recommend it.

Although this resort isn't necessarily close to the tourist attractions, it is absolutely the most charming resort I've ever been to. It's mostly made of wood and shrouded in greenery. It's on a busy road, but you certainly feel like you're in the jungle. The staff is so friendly and helpful, and provided us with an included gorgeous breakfast for us the next morning. It is very easy to get to and from this place using the hop-on-hop-off taxi trucks. It was extremely reasonable for the quality of stay.

Phak means “rest” or “stay” in Thai, but Phak Lopburi’s (now renamed Ruanmai Resort and Spa) location on Highway 1 might disturb light sleepers as rooms close to the reception are noisy all day and night.  (No wonder one previous reviewer describes it as a roadside motel.)  Though clean and comfortable, the bedrooms are a tad small, and the bathrooms (in the case of superior double at least) have an awkward layout that, if the wooden shutter isn’t locked, can be entered from outside.  Strangely the cheaper units have a much nicer bathtub in the middle of the room although this too is neither practically designed nor suitable for non-couples.  

However, its friendly staff, free Wi-Fi, 24-hour security and Thai-style décor make us feel right at home.  Probably Phak Lopburi’s greatest assets that nobody should miss are (1) the professionally run spa situated in a separate pavillion even closer to the busy boulevard and (2) the plentiful breakfast served in the garden.  The lovely owners really know where to get the best local food in the City of Monkeys.  Even in Bangkok, it's difficult, if not impossible, to find the coconut milk-based khanom sai sai (ขนมใส่ไส้) as delicious as Phak Lopburi’s.

We booked this hotel because we wanted to visit sunflower fields on a weekend. At first we were planning to stay only 1 night and move to Pasak Cholasit dam. After booking we contacted the resort for more info and the owner gave us so much details about attractions within Lopburi city that we decided to stay one more night and explore (She is very helpful and recommended us to so many great places. The hotel is very easy to find as its right on the main street to the city center. The rooms are beautifully decorated in traditional Thai style. The shower is very nice. The only downside side is the rooms are not sound proof. We got the rooms to the very front of the hotel and therefore closed to the main street. If you're light sleeper, you might want to request for further room in the back. The breakfast is simple but nice although the portion might be a bit too small for those who like full breakfast. Overall, I think I'd go back to hotel again if I visit Lopburi again.

Great for the Body, Less so for the Mind

Great stay at Lopburi 

Ruanmai Resort and Spa is on the highway to the south of Lopburi and you have to keep your eyes peeled for it or you will drive right past.

It has a quaint feel, with rough heavy timber floors, and wooden walled rooms built either side of an internal courtyard garden.
It 
The rooms are redolent of the old wood, but the beds are comfortable and the bed linen of good quality.  Rooms are air conditioned.

The spa also offers massages, starting at 200 Baht for an hour traditional foot massage.

Room rate was 800 Baht.
