Taipei 1949 Hostel

We arrived at Taipei 1949 Hostel and immediately felt impressed. The cool design and relaxed vibe of the place is obvious and instantly puts you at ease. Being so close to Dingxi MRT also helps. It means you have access to the entire city, from what you would initially think was a impractical location. The MRT cost is super cheap and staff at 1949 are happy to help steer you in which ever direction appeals to you. Not that you need to, so much is going on in Dingxi, Yonghe District. We found our selves a delicious bakery from the opposite side of the main street with the tastiest sugar donuts I have ever had. During our stay both me and my boyfriend stayed in the top dorm during our 5 day visit. Knowing this, staff we happy to put us in bunk's next to each other. Upon arrival we each received a fresh duvet cover, pillow covers and a pretty mattress cover of your choice. As well as a toothbrush, paste, homemade body wash and shampoo; which was a really nice touch. We both found the bunks to be comfy and practical, the toilets and shower clean and the location to be nice a secluded, making for a great nights sleep. One of the best things about the hostel is its amazing style. Modern meets industrial, meets vintage. The art found literally everywhere is a visual feast. Especially in the downstairs kitchen/chill space, where all visitors are encourage to leave a doodle, picture watercolour or photo. All in all this hostel was a real treat. I would encourage anyone visiting Taipei to make this their chosen hostel. Its by far the the cheapest I've ever paid to stay in a work of art.
