If you look for a relaxing and quiet place to refresh yourself for a few days, Moontoad (玉蟾園) should be the right one. It was located rather far away from the town center (around 1.5-2km). Yet it is actually very closed to the Brown's Road and other attractions. Mrs Lai (賴媽媽,又叫彭姐) gave us a warm greeting at Chihshang Station. She drove us to Moonstad and showed us key places during the few-minute journey. Chihshang town center is small and there is virtually no night activities. My wife and I spent 3 nights here. We cycled around in Chihshang and Guanshan area and had taken a lot of photos. During the night time, in Moontoad it was free from light pollution. The night sky is amazing! It was dark and filled with stars! Time flew fast. We looked at the sky, chit and chat, took some fruit and snacks, and it's already a few hours! In the second night another visitor was taking star night photos. Her photos were amazing and most of them were postcard-quality! People were nice here as well. The food was also excellent! It was not the type of 'expensive or elegant'. Mrs Lai cooked very good local Taiwanese dishes. She went to the market to buy freshly available ingredients everyday and created her own dishes. We could never forget the taste of the chicken soup, the steamed buns, the fried vege and the red beans dessert! Yet, it's worth mentioning that it is not a full facility hotel with a lot of facilities. Don't expect too much from this perspective. Living here for a few days, we actually feel more like visiting a friend's farm (yes, it is really a farm of a few hectares!). Walking around in the fruit orchards, playing with the two famous doggies (well known in the town!), enjoying the nights are enjoyable here. The Lai's family were doing the best to serve you like your friends!
