The hotel is located a bit far from the city center. That is the biggest disadvantage in my opinion. In the meantime, the cleanliness and service at the hotel is very good according to the price. Especially Ms.Agneta is very helpful and kind. My room was very small out of my expectations.

Out Of Sight

We were warmly received by the host.
The room, the sheets, the towels were fresh and clean.
Varied choice of food for the breakfast.
Located in a quiet place, close to public transportation.
Good experience, we could come back in the future!

Nice and clean

Cleaning (bathroom/beds) was okay, parking lot directly in front of the house is good. 
Breakfast was simple but good. WiFI available without further costs.

Pictures you can find on the web obviously only show the somehow newer rooms and avoid to show the very old floor or parquet - maybe we had bad luck with our room but our carpet was very old and worn. If your room is too close to the breakfast room, have fun because you will wake up 8 a.m. on a Sunday morning when the first guests have their breakfast as you will hear every single spoken word! 
Also, no chance to have your makeup done in the bathroom as the light is very very dimmed. Being there on a weekend and having the windows closed is okay but if you like to sleep with some fresh air you will hear the traffic. 

They are not permanently staffed and if you do not manage to pay your room on the date of arrival, you have to get up early and pay before 9 a.m. when somebody is there for preparation of breakfast?!? Sorry but this is a bit odd, it should be possible to pay when leaving which is latest 11 am...

We chose the hotel due to close distance to a family celebration (walking distance) but will rather take a taxi next time.

Okay but needs some modernization

This was a nice experience and I experienced it as good value for money. Stayed two nights. The rooms are comfortable. My room did not have a desk which I would have liked to have. Breakfast was good. Staff was very welcoming. I enjoy this type of hotel, but not all people do.

High level of charm

Hotel Äppelviken is one of few places in the Stockholm area where you can find a bed at a fair price. Most hotels in Stockholm are quite expensive. So if you are on a budget this is the place. Likewise if you are looking for a charming place with an air of the 1980s. The place looks like only the TV (flatscreen) and the shower fittings have a later date. To their credit it must also be said that the bed was very comfortable. 
There is no reception, so if you have pre-booked you will find the key to your room inside the main entrance in an envelope with your name and room number. 
The owner turns up a few hours in the mornings to take your payment. 
A typical Scandinavian self service breakfast is served. 
The location is about 15 minutes walk from Alvik subway station.
