Let me start by saying, the food was great, and the ambiance too :) Its just veeery complicated.

It started with another company of 4, that had a table reserved at 6.30 whos friends arrived same time as us 6.30, they asked to first get some drinks in the very nice lounge with a view, but were quite brutally refused with  " if you have a table at 6.30 we have to seat you at 6.30, the lady in the company again asked another staff member and said they just wanted some drinks first and their friends just arrived, but no...go to your seats, I  interfered and said,.. really this is a bit odd ??? , 

My family was led to our table and just out of pure interest I clocked the other company that had to wait another 5 min to be seated and 15 min to order drinks and 35 min to get their starters.

So I wonder, what would be the harm in letting them enjoying the lounge (which was empty) , ordering drinks and starters there and be led to table just in time for starters ?

So my own little wonders, there is a tartar on the meny in the lounge that was not on the restaurant meny, since I am a sucker for tartar I asked if it was possible to have that as a starter but after discussion with kitchen it was impossible, so I asked for the asparagus starter, but asked if I could have a portion of Kalix roe on it ( that was on the meny of another starter) again impossible with the explanation that they could run out of roe, Ok .

I asked what wine they recommended with the asparagus and ordered that , never got it and when I finally got contact with the waiter I already finished my satrter, he apologized and said he would take my sons drink off the check.

I orderd the Cod but he came out with the Lamb, but it looked so delicious so I settled for the Lamb again with an apology and my drink off the check.

The food was again very good and the place very nice, but the way the other company was treated was to say the least mind boggling. I discussed with them after dinner and they enjoyed as us, but its a shame as this place could be so much better with some real service.  The staff was nice, but it seems like its their first week and they need to get settled and get proper instructions and guide lines to follow so they do not get confused.

And , if they put men on the moon 1969, why is it impossible to move a starter from one room to another or get a tea spoon of roe on starter nr2 instead of starter nr if I pay for it !! ??

Would love to visit again to se if this was just a strange day.


Fawlty Kivik ! .....were everything is impossible.

A wonderful little luxury hotel by the sea in the very best part of Osterlen in the south of Sweden. Exceptional service, great view, original artwork and designer furniture in the beautifully decorated environment, especially the lounge, lobby annd the restaurant area. Excellent breakfast buffet with delicious make it yourself waffles as desert. Indoor and outdoor seating. We enjoyed the morning sun at the terrace with a second cup of freshly brewed coffee. Private and romantic restaurant with friendly staff. Nice garden with fountains, lavender and roses.  The atmosphere is intimate, inside and outside. Very clean and tidy. I will definitely come back. Around Easter weekend it’s the famous Art walk in the greater area and Kivik is in the best spot to explore everything that Skånegatan has to offer! You do need a car to be able to get around the greater area and visit the artist’s gallery’s and homes and gardens. This year it was the 55 th anniversary. 
The hotel has a spa and a gym also. 

A gem

A great hotel with very nice rooms. Full kit of spa with two jacuzzis, warm pool under the sky, possible to get seperat jacciuzi, steam and dry sauna.
After the spa, there are very beautiful lounches with sea view. Resturant have high standards an a nive selection of wines. The garden is peaceful and very beutiful. All together, with nice price for a full weekend, I rate Kivik Hotel five stars witout any reseravation.

Top notch for couples

If you are looking for a cozy relaxing long weekend with a good food then you should consider Kivik Hotel 
it is located very nice city Kivik you will enjoy many apple products 
restaurant dinner was great and really nice atmosphere 
the room had a fantastic sea view clean and quite we also tried the spa it was really nice we enjoyed every second 
just would wish if the room was supplied with shampoo and hair conditioner and also at the spa it would be wonderful if they had some tea and nice relaxing music 
I will definitely come back 🤗😊

wonderful weekend

After a tour in the area and lunch at the small marina, we checked in at the reception in Kiviks Hotell. The receptionist (perhaps the leading manager or even the owner) was very kind and she gave us the best penthouse room with a spectacular view. The spa was nice. Our dinner was nice. The restaurant holds a magnificent wine card with really fancy wines. Super nice beds. And we woke up to the sun reflecting in the Baltic Sea. Nice breakfast buffet. After checking out we had a really cool almost-one-hour-conversation with the same receptionist as yesterday. Thanks for your hospitality and friendly mind. You are the reason for the last and fifth star. 

Super hospitality 

We visited on December 26th 2021. We have a house in the village and have visited the hotel a number of times. We have always found it mediocre but continued to go there since it is convenient for us. Tonight, we were super dissapointed. The menu was very limited ( to one course if you did not opt for the 8 course sampling menu) , the champagne sold out and suddenly the very young and over tattooed and pierced waitress asked us ( in the middle of dinner) where we had got the red wine from. She was literally accusing us of having brought wine to the restaurant. After a few minutes she realized that the red wine which two in the group was drinking was coke and that we had ordered it. She excused herself and said she was confused. I am 55 years old, and have been to countless restaurants all over the world but never experienced this kind of “service “ before.
It was a terrible terrible experience and we will never ever visit Kivik hotel again and I advise nobody to go there.

Super disappointed

What a lovely place! The grounds are charming and the buildings and rooms are quaint. One really touch is the authentic art. The pictures in the dining room are really beautiful. And the staff is lovely. Also, say I have to they really seem corona safe. Seems safer then alternatives. Some complain about the spa but for me itof had plenty of options: a dry sauna, a steam room, and two jacuzzis.(And soon to Bea pool :)

Such a special place!

A big highlight of our trip was this hotell. We even booked another night last minuite because of the experience. The receptionist had a perfect customer oriented mind. She was very service minded and honest with her recommendations, very pleasant and social. The facilities were very fresh and modern, beautiful spa section and jaccuzi. The rooms/villas were very romantic and comfortable. Clean rooms with a beautiful view of the ocean. The hotell is located at the best spot in the entire city. There was a huge garden with very pretty seating arrangements. 10/10 in every aspect.

Perfect service.

Extremely charming property! We stayed in a room in one of the small houses - very spacious for two and a view to the garden. The beautiful garden - the best part! - where you can sit and enjoy a glass of cider and look out over Kivik and the sea. Just gorgeous!! And only a 5 minute walk down the hill to take a swim in the sea. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent quality and service, only comment is the portions are quite small for the price. Definitely recommend a stay here.

Tranquility with a view

We had the five course menu and the food was fine, especially the lamb osso bucco. Service was ok. No amuse bouches, just the ordered courses. What is worse however is the amount of wine served. We paid 70 euros per pop for the wine package and each glass was filled max 2 cm. When each course came, the wine (two sips) was already consumed. Go for a bottle instead because this was really a rip off.
