While visiting Nuwara Eliya, we wanted to stay in the middle of a tea plantation.  We found the perfect answer in Tealeaf Retreat.  A stunning setting in the plantation, where you can wander for hours and enjoy the serenity and watching the ladies pick the tea leaves.  Its vantage point on a hill next to a temple and overlooking the plantation cannot be beat.  You will likely want to hire a tuk tuk if going into the town or to see some of the sights (waterfall, Gregory Lake, etc), but this is not a problem, as Tealeaf will be happy to arrange.  We loved the location and the fact that we could walk to the tea factory tour and tasting at the Pedro Tea Factory in less than 10 minutes.

Ashika at Tealeaf is a wonderful host.  He corresponded with us before arrival and was able to obtain our tickets on the scenic train from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy in advance for us.  He made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and settled us in our comfortable room with a nice view of the tea plantation.  One cavaet is that our room, the Jasmine Room, faces the temple, and the temple keeps its lights on all night.  Therefore, it never got dark in the room.  This was a minor inconvenience.  The room has a king size bed and a twin bed, along with a desk and nightstands.  The water, coffee, and tea service provided were appreciated.

We had a lovely Sri Lankan dinner and a tasty breakfast the next morning.  Tealeaf even provided us with lunch before arranging our tuk tuk transport to the train station for our afternoon departure.

Staying in the middle of a tea plantation was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka, made possible by the comfortable, affordable, and friendly accommodations provided by Ashika at Tealeaf.  We wish we could have stayed longer, and hope you enjoy your visit as much as we did!

Perfect tea plantation retreat!

We were stay this hotel in last week, it is a small hotel located in a beautiful tea plantation where few Kilometers from Nuwara Eliya. Hotel Accommodation and food were good, staff was very helpful.  There was a nice view surrounding  the hotel

We really enjoyed our stay with excellent host  Ashika and his brother Roger.
Whilst the Tealeaf is a few kilometres away from Newara Eliya, it is set in a tea plantation which makes it very quiet and peaceful, with lovely views from the balcony. 
it is only a  few dollars to get a tuk tuk to town and it is delightful to be able to able to come back to the serenity of Tealeaf at night.
The breakfasts were excellent and we ate an  evening meals there as well.
There is lots to see and do in the area, with the Pedro tea factory right across the field. Also we walked to Lovers Leap Waterfalls. Roger picked us up and dropped us off at the train station (about 15 km away) for a very reasonable price. A great place to stay

Knowledgeable staff, tea tasting, a try at picking tea and a tour of the factory make this a great stop. The workers were very knowledgeable. so many varieties of tea. The tea tasting was a nice touch. Most of our group bought tea as well.

Tea plantation great tour

Located outside of Nuwara Eliya town, a short walk from the Pedro Tea Estate and the walk to Lover’s Leap, Tealeaf Retreat is a small hotel that aims to please. Facilities are basic - bed was comfortable, shower (weak) and toilets (toilet seats don’t fit!!!) could use an upgrade. Service was friendly. Breakfasts good. Overall a decent place to stay.

We couldn't have been treated better by our hosts Ashika and his brother Roger. The Tealeaf Retreat is a few kilometres away from Newara Eliya, set in a tea plantation which makes it very quiet and peaceful, with lovely views from the balcony. The breakfasts were great and we ate our evening meals there as well, they were a set menu (Sri Lankan food cooked by Rogers wife), and delicious. There is lots to see and do in the area, beautiful walks and a tea factory right across the field. Roger picked us up and dropped us off at the train station (about 15 km away) for a very reasonable price. They even made us sandwiches for the train ride as it was a holiday and Ashika thought if might be difficult to get food along the way.  A great place to stay!

Its nice place and nice view through the tea plantation and beautiful mountain with the fog.hotel has been offers best amenities such as five star hotel.the hotel owner is very helpfull and enthusiastic person to give us fantastic service.good work.

Best place to stay your own way

No parking space, we had to park our car outside near the road.Washroom was not clean and little smelled bad. room and the bed was comfortable but it was difficult to the cold weather without a heater or a fire. Breakfast was really bad and cold , may be they cater foreigners well and ignore locals
