I would not recommend this hostel. My friends and I arrived a bit late at night, but when we arrived we waited twenty minutes for someone to answer the door. Then we were told that the hostel was going through construction so they had no room. This room was booked in advance, so it would have been nice to know this before so we can plan accordingly.
They then sent us to another hostel which was also closed and cost us more money for transportation.
This was a disappointing start to our trip.

False Advertising

I made a few friends here in this very basic hostel. It was really busy and had a lot of travellers crammed into the small little spot but for a few nights stay it is absolutely fine. 
Dont forget your not in the west and that the price is very cheap so its nothing luxurious.

Plain and simple

I like it here near the beach just 1 minute walk. Most importantly I felt like home. Especially Prima she is an amazing lady and she helps around all the time, I had horrible darrhrea, she helped to bring me food and ask her doctor friend to help me. I'm lucky to find this place and met Auntie Prima.

this place is like being at home, with your mamma, who is not happy unless you are happy, and well fed. i never want to leave again. i came totally alone and was kind of nervous but then prema took me under her wing and i haven't even tried to see the rest of this amazing country yet :)

the only place in the world where you will never feel lonely

Caught the train from inland to Colombo and stayed for the night due to my flight in two days. It was easy catching the bus from Colombo Fort train station (bus number 100), less than 40 RPS to Dehiwala, it was raining so I showed a tuk tuk driver the address and he drove me down the road. Initium rd turns down right after a little indoor sport field on the main road if that helps, if you drive past pizza hut you've gone slighty too far. As for the accommodation, it was so cosy and I felt so at home by the host she was lovely, always smiling and always trying to provide for your stay even though she has a lot on her plate. After staying in a few over priced hotels with poor staff, Colombo Sea View Hostel was the perfect place to finish my trip in good spirits and without any dilemmas, and I would highly recommend it.
