I highly recommend staying at Abberny Villa if you are visiting this area of Sri Lanka. I have never felt so looked after and cared for in a homestay before. This family is exceptionally special and always went above and beyond for us. My partner and I ended up extending our stay there because we found it to be such a peaceful & pleasant place to land for awhile. It is well enough away from the busy road and loud train, surrounded by trees and sweet birds singing. I had some of the best moments in Sri Lanka hanging out on their property getting to know them & other wonderful guests staying there.

The mother also makes the most delicious & healthy food we have tasted in Sri Lanka. We ended up eating there for dinner every evening because it was way better (& cheaper) than any other restaurant!

This place is so affordable with breakfast included in the price. You get much more out of staying there than just a place to sleep. The experience will surely highlight your stay in Sri Lanka.

They have such a special touch to everything they do and make you feel like such a cherished guest - like you're a part of the family. The son, Niranga, was always kindly available to answer any question we had and was such a delight to spend time with.

I have such deep gratitude for this beautiful family.

The Loveliest Sri Lankan Experience

This place is simply perfect! The family is the friendliest people you can meet, food is   heavenly, room is clean and spacious. If we go back to Sri Lanka, Abberny Villa will be the place to go. Thank you so much for the perfect stay 

Cannot recommend enough 

A peaceful and relaxed place. 
Its must: the family. They are so attentive, kind, lovely and warm hearted and they will help you with everything they can. 
The mum cooks AMAZING breakfast (included in the price) with local products, fresh fruit...just YUMMY!!! They also cook lunch and dinner if you want.
They also have a treehouse room, which the dad made a year ago, very cute and different as others!

You can also rent them a motorbike.

From there you can move easily either with a tuktuk, buses, close to train station and closeto surf beaches!

The place to be in Sri Lanka...

Feel like home, or better!!

As many other reviews have mentioned, Abberny Villa is owned and run by THE friendliest most helpful family in Sri Lanka! The property is gorgeous, quiet, the food is exceptional, and the village charming. My room was a little small, with more furniture than needed, but other than that, lovely. They are just finishing a very beautiful treehouse that will soon be available to rent also.

home away from home!

I can assure you that there isn't more hospitable place you will encounter on your travels. If you want to learn what Sri Lanka is about then you will taste it here. You can soak up the culture and the atmosphere in this place. It's only 15 minutes walk from the beach and from the main road from which it's so easy to catch a bus either direction. Nisha and her family as so open and warm folks that you will end up having an impression that you are visiting your closest family for Christmas rather than staying in a paid accommodation.

Abberny Villa - Your 2nd Home

The guesthouse was the best value for money we have received in Sri Lanka with the best family. It was more like a homestay where we spent time chatting with the family especially Nisha and her brother. Their Father and brother showed us how they obtain cinnamon, climbed trees to get us coconuts, helped looked for monkeys, showed us how to milk a cow etc. The food was the best we have had in Sri Lanka and lots of it came from their garden/rice fields. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with western bathrooms and a choice between 2 great showers.
