My wife, her mother and I have been holidaying in Ribadesella for many years now. It is a wonderful village on the north coast of Spain, in Asturias about an hours drive from the beautiful city of Oviedo and the attractive coastal city of Gijon. We have been using these apartments for about 5 years now. As Ribadesella is a charming holiday resort and very popular, especially with people from Oviedo, theses apartments are extremely good value for money. The apartment block is only two minutes from the village centre making it very handy to go shopping but far away enough to avoid the night time noise of the bars and restaurants. This extremely useful for young children, as without a doubt, you can happily get a good nights rest. In addition the apartment block is a stones throw from a small and beautiful pebble beach cove, which is very popular, as the waves crashing onto the rocks are spectacular. For those who prefer a sandy beach, this bigger beach is only a ten minute walk to the other side of the village, across the River Sella. This is a very long beach with a very pleasant promenade with a lot of very nice hotels, ice cream parlours and coffee shops. One of the best is Nerian Cafeteria, where they have excellent cakes, pastries, and ice creams. This beach, Playa Santa Marina is very popular with young families and surfers. All of the apartments are extremely comfortable, with a spacious living room and kitchen. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and the bathrooms are ideal. The kitchens are fully fitted with open access to the living room. There is cable TV with dozens of channels and there is very good wifi connection. If you are not inclined to making breakfast, then in the same apartment block there is a bakery where you can get hot croissants, buns and freshly baked bread. Or there is an excellent cafeteria on the corner, Cafe La Villa, which serves a fabulous breakfast at a very good price. Although the apartments do not have a car park, there are plenty of spaces in the village centre or in a car park just behind the nearby school. There is always a pleasant hustle and bustle in the village, and especially on Wednesdays when there is an open air market. There are also beautiful walks near the yachting marina, along the river, or up to the quaint old church on a hill above Ribadesella, where there are spectacular views. Ribadesella is famous for its river which meanders down from the mountains into the sea at the town. On this river there is an annual canoe race which is extremely popular both locally and internationally, this year 2016, was its 80th event. All around Ribadesella there are spectacular mountains and bays, with picturesque towns and villages. The apartments act as a wonderful base to travel around Asturias. And as such they are extremely popular during the summer months. So if you really want to enjoy a fantastic family holiday I would advise you to book in advance. .
