My family and I stayed one night in a corner Suite room at this modern, contemporary hotel comprising 22 guestrooms that is situated on elevated land and thus has a lovely bird’s eye view of a gradual slope valley and the coast.  

Hotel location: Keying in GPS code 762111, you would arrive at this hotel through turning into a small lane from main Jusangandong-ro (1136 road). There are 6 car parking lots in front of the hotel (with more empty space to accommodate a few more cars if necessary) and parking is free.
We chose this hotel because after touring the southern Jeju attractions (e.g. Jusangjeolli Cliffs, Jeonbang Falls, Cheonjiyeon Falls), we wanted an in-between accommodation with reasonable rates to stay before going east of Jeju next day. In fact, Cheonjiyeon Falls is only 2km from Hyumaru Hotel.

Hotel Staff: Although the friendly lady receptionist didn’t speak fluent English, she spoke enough words of English to tell us about the location for breakfast, checkout time and how to connect in the lobby to the free wi-fi which we could then use in our rooms. More importantly, she had our room keys and check-in documents readily prepared so that our check-in was fuss-free and quick.   

Hotel Room: The design of the bedroom room and bathroom is modern contemporary with refreshing white, grey and light brown coloured themes. The best part is: not only is the room is huge, it is also very clean and everything was well maintained that these looked new! 
We liked the large living room/family area with a black sofa, wall-mounted LCD TV, a wall-mounted wooden TV console and a dressing table with mirror and hairdryer. It’s large (huge) when the distance between the sofa and the TV is a about 4 metres! We also liked the large bathroom which has a pair of slippers at each of the 2 entrances, 2 round sinks each with a bright green cupboards below and 2 bathing areas (but one has no bathroom door) separated by the toilet room. Each bathing area (room) comes with a fixed overhead square showerhead, a portable round showerhead and 3 colourful bottles of body cleanser, rinse and shampoo. There’s no bath-tub.
There’s a big refrigerator and a wardrobe cupboard side-by-side next to the entrance door of the hotel room. We find it interesting that the wardrobe cupboard is not located inside the bedroom. It’s also interesting that the hair dryer and dressing table is at the corner next to the balcony. As in the Jeju hotels we have stayed in so far, we put our luggage on the floor. There’s also no kitchenette, no safe, no iron and no kettle while there’s a hot and cold water dispenser located outside the hotel room.  
We liked the balcony for 2 reasons – (1) it has beautiful birds-eye view of the valley filled with lush greenery, isolated houses and several grey covered tangerine farms (I think) as well as coastal Seogwipo city and 2 islands off the coast (2) There is a round table and 2 lightweight metal chairs for you to dine and enjoy the lovely view
We also liked the pink and white coloured theme bedroom, which has its own TV, 2 queen beds and 2 extra tarmacs in case you want to sleep on the floor. The beds are comfortable. However, there’s no full length window but a rectangular window to just let in the air and light into the bedroom. Because of the hotel’s secluded location, the air was always fresh and became cold in the night and there’s no traffic noise to wake up in the morning. 

Hotel Dining Area: While there’s no restaurant in the hotel, it has a dining area of several tables and chairs for you to have drinks. The dining area is where we had our breakfast, which comprised milk, orange juice, cereals, bread, butter, coffee, tea and eggs. There is cooking oil and an electric stove with a flat wok where we fried our own eggs and did our own French toast. Furthermore, there are 2 microwave ovens available. 
For dinner and lunch, you have to drive out to the numerous restaurants and eateries within 10 minutes from this hotel.

Improvement:  The outdoor swimming pool was empty of water when we were there, so hotel management may want to consider filling it for guests to use and relax (especially during summer).

We enjoyed our stay in this value-for-money hotel, and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the southern part of Jeju.
