Agnes Gateway Hotel is located in the heart of Munda. You can literally walk from the airport to the Lodge. It is located on the water and has fabulous views over the islands.The dive shop is on the same grounds which makes diving very easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in one of the individual cottages which was quite large, comfortable and clean. The restaurant which is located nearby has daily specials which are very reasonably priced. The food is excellent and there is a lot of fresh seafood on the menu.
Don't go there expected 5 star or a place that runs like clockwork as it doesn't. Enjoy island time and enjoy the wonderful surrounds ad very happy, friendly locals.

I stay here often but worse each time. This was now the worst stay I have had in the Solomons. Unfortunately there are not many options.

Hole

We stayed three nights at Agnes Lodge after our dive boat trip.  The location of the lodge with the dive shop and restaurant on site was very convenient.  Diving was excellent and the shop was very professional.  All the staff at the lodge and restaurant were also very nice and helpful.  

The room we stayed in was an Ibuibu Cottage which I would recommend over the other smaller rooms.  The cottages are stand alone and very basic but there was plenty of room and with all the windows open to let the breeze in there was no need to run the A/C.  Would highly recommend the cottage room 22 - we lucked out with this one that is closest to the water and ocean view.  Our bed was very comfortable however one of the people we were traveling with staying in a smaller room had a very uncomfortable bed that she could feel the springs through.

There were also land tours available for booking onsite at the lodge (half day or full day).  The land tour guide Billy is excellent - very friendly and knowledgeable.  Would highly recommend the WWII tour.  We also did the salt water croc river tour and waterfall hike which were also good.       

Food at the restaurant was decent for how remote the location was although a bit inconsistent.  One night the spaghetti Bolognese was excellent and the next night was not - not sure if it was just a different chef or what.  The friendliness of the staff made up for it.

Great Diving and Accomodations

Munda is a little 'off the beaten path' which is why you get such stunning dive sites. Keeping this in mind, Agnes' is not a 3 or 4 star resort, but is beautiful in a natural way. The room we stayed in was very acceptable to us with aircon, fans, bar fridge & shower. The room, although a little tired, was tidied daily with fresh clean linen and towels and we were very comfortable. Our bathroom had some mold and the shower water was not always hot, but to us this is a little expected in the Sols and no big deal, but just be aware. There are also different room options at Agnes from self contained (which we had) to shared rooms and shared bathrooms, so make sure you know what you are booking. The Bar and restaurant area are beautiful and built out over the water with great sea views. Shade along the water is provided from magnificent large trees and you get a feeling of being 'embedded' into nature. If you are diving, then Dive Munda (who are fantastic) is also based on premises at Agnes, so there is no travel required. Agnes also offer tours - we took advantage of the waterfall tour and a WW2 tour - both were magic, but did involve a lot of walking. 
The only thing that failed to really impress was the restaurant - we found the food a little bland and very expensive. However, next time we head back to Munda we'll definitely stay with Agnes....

So here goes just spent 7 nights at the Agnes gateway hotel
Great friendly staff 
Just a few things to point out 
The beds are rock hard you must ask for a foam mattress
They will provide
Airconditioning works great 
Meals at the restaurant are ok but don’t expect al a carte 
Most meals are fish not many beef or chicken options
All In all enjoyed our week 
Couple of tips buy your soft drink and beer from the local shops it’s about a third of the price plus rooms have fridges
Take a torch if you want to go out at night 
Police station is close to hotel no issues with security fairly safe place 
Change your money at Soloman brothers in the town better exchange rate 
100 AUD gets you 600 soloman dollars 
Don’t know that I would go back again as I only went for the diving 
But I think if you are used to South Pacific island holidays you won’t be disappointed 


Another great destination 

Very convenient, superb diving at dive Munda . The hotel is basic , clean and food was surprisingly good ( however you need to chill and order a drink while they make fresh) . Views just superb , staff very helpful and friendly.

Two nights waiting for the dive boat

This is a basic hotel, although probably the best available in the area. A range of basic rooms, but as we were not divers, and expected to spend some time at the “resort” we elected for a one bedroom cottage overlooking the lagoon. Stunning views, air conditioning which worked well, (although a little noisy) but generally a little tired and in need of renovation. The location is perfect - close to airport, overlooking crystal blue waters, with plenty of excursions, and a dive Centre if that is your passion.
Simple food at the restaurant, reasonably priced, with a small but well priced range of bar drinks.

I spent a lot of time researching where to visit in the Solomons, and this is a good balance of accommodation, location and activities.

Communication with the hotel during and after booking was great, and the staff were excellent.

Apparently there is a pub/entertainment facility across the square that was very noisy at weekend, but our cottage was far enough away, and with back ground air conn we never heard it.

Rooms did not have a safe, so we kept our valuables with us at all times

If you are looking for luxury South Pacific accommodation look elsewhere, but for good air conditioned basic accommodation with stunning views, excellent snorkeling with good excursions it is worth a try.

Basic, but air conditioned

We had booked a dive package which included staying at the Agnes Gateway Hotel in a Naru room.
The room was so tiny, there was no hot water and the music from the nightclub just outside the hotel kept us awake until after 12am. 
The manager was really nice and upgraded us to one of the lovely garden villas for the remainder of our stay where we had lots of room, great facilities and excellent sleep quality.
The meals in the restaurant are reasonably priced and are excellent. Lots of seafood dishes, loved the Coconut Fish and their Hamburgers with the works was excellent as well. There is a bar which serves beer, spirits and wines. 
At night their is a local group who sing traditional songs and play bamboo music and are great to listen to.

Great Location for Dive Trip

I have stayed in Agnes Lodge at least 30 times starting in 1991.  This time I booked on Hotels.com and paid in advance at a rate of about USD 43.25/day and was greeted by name at checkin (so they had received the booking). At checkout the desk person tried to charge about  120 USD/day and insisted that the Lodge does not charge the card in advance.  I negotiated the price down to about $58/day. Still about $14 more than the price I expected.  When I checked my statement, I found that I was charged both by Hotels.com and by Agnes Lodge.  Hotels.com evaded any responsibility by simply refunding what I paid them, but did nothing to help secure a refund for the overcharge by Agnes Lodge.  I see that some other reviews of Agnes also refer to such changes in the prices upon checkout.  My string of 30-plus stays at Agnes has ended. I will not go on to describe the numerous sand fly bites. In the future I will get nearby Zipolo Habu to rescue me from Munda. Zipolo Habu is great.

Cannot Count on the Price Even after paying in advance

Dive Munda operates on hotel premises and this is the best reason to stay here.
Staff is very nice, and restaurant meals are large. 
Cottages are very close to restaurant, and one cannot hide the noise from night life.
