171 reviewsAfter a long day hiking, the last minute booking at the nearest hotel, "Calheta Place" seemed like a good idea. Arriving to find it rather deserted, I was promptly "rescued" by a very nice young man in a pickup truck and whisked off to the delightfully situated Jardim do Mar Hotel, the flagship of this family business. Given an excellent room and no extra cost, I soaked tired bones in a lovely, hot bath and enjoyed a late dinner whipped up by the in house restaurant. After a good night's rest in a spotlessly clean and comfortable king size room with balcony, I explored this incredibly charming village before being returned to the mountain by the same son of this kind and very friendly family.
