With a very good location in El Nido, a few minutes from the beach, from the shopping streets full of restaurants, bars, travel agencies, grocery stores ... even a short walk from the van terminal that takes you to Puerto Princesa. A tiny room that lacks space for a closet where we can have clothes (we had them under the bedside table), without hot water but with a/c, fridge on the porch, kettle and cups for coffee, tea .. All in a courtyard with some plants and a rooster, a chicken, a puppy and several cats, and sharing the room with a large family of very friendly locals.

We were very comfortable

Room is small but I don't mind which is best for 2 people. Very affordable for a price of Php650 per night only. Very clean rooms and bathroom. Bed is sooooo comfortable with clean linens and towels. Bathroom is very clean too. Aircon is functioning well. They have kitchen outside where guests can cook. Electric kettle and water is provided and can use refrigerator just outside the room. Peaceful and quiet. Guests can also rent their motorcycles. Walking distance to Bacuit bay and location is very accessible.

Very Affordable and Very Clean

It should have been a 2 but I give this place 3 out of 5 because of the polite staff and owner. It's also in a good location outside but not far to walk to the centre with all the restaurants, dive shops and bars. Maybe 4-5 minutes to walk.
But there are only cold water in the shower and I had to boil water in the water heater for coffee/tea and mix it with cold water in a bucket and then pour this over me to get a comfortable shower. 
The room is small but I don't need much and there is a refrigerator out on the "balcony/walkway". I shared this with the boss who lived in 2nd floor next to me.
The building is inside a dirty (lots of sticks and old stuff) "garden" with roosters and chickens. 
Several people are living and working in and around this garden.
The bed is ok but a little hard and the curtains cannot keep the sunshine out but the aircon is working. 
There is a lot of noice from roosters, dogs and neighbours at night so I had to use earplugs to sleep.

No hot water in the shower.

Typically when I book cheap places, I tell myself "I only need a basic place to sleep". Well here it's difficult to get any quality sleep whatsoever! With half a dozen roosters and lots of chickens just outside your door, believe me that even ear plugs don't help. You don't need an alarm clock as you WILL BE awake by 5-6 in the morning. Besides the terrible noise from the animals, the room is tiny but sufficient. There's only cold water in the shower, wifi is extremely poor and unreliable. In summary, I would advise to spend a little bit more and get some quality sleep elsewhere.

Not worth it

I took my time a few months in advance to choose smile lodge as my accommodation en El Nido for my holiday.

The check in day, an employee of Smile Lodge told me that they had to accommodate me in another place due to a electric wiring problem, so she asked my arrival time. When I arrived, another supposed employee of Smile Lodge told me that he was taking me to an alternative accommodation as my room was given to somebody else. So, the wiring problem was basically a lie.

I could not believe it,  it was totally outrageous and as I could not see feasible to remove the other guest from my room I acceeded as long as the would pay the difference, which they did NOT do eventually. Furthermore, the place they found for me was absolutely awful.

In conclusion, they cancelled my booking on the arrival day, making impossible to find a decent place to stay for a reasonable price and I also ended up in a terrible more expensive than my previous booking. First time something like this happens to me and I have travelled to many places. Simply unbelievable.
