If you are looking for the absolute most convenient, affordable, hassle free stop over in Ollantaytambo, El Bosque Backpackers offers a more than ideal setting. A minute's walk from the Train Station, El Bosque afforded my group and I the luxury of catching the first train out of Ollantaytambo the morning of our journey to Aguas Caliente sans-anxiety or strain. With a cozy bed room layout, a beautiful garden at the Urubamba River's edge and a most welcoming staff, our 17 hour stay felt like one that seemed so much longer. The three wheeled mototaxis are easily available just outside the hostel's front door which would take you to the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park, the Main Square or any part of this historic place. Otherwise, the walk to and from is a pretty short one as is expected in this small, charming, old Andean town. El Bosque's proximity to the train station gives its guests the best access to the neighbouring Train Station market area where last minute goodies can be purchased before or after the train ride.

The Perfect Spot !

We needed a place to stay for an overnight that is near the train station for convenience, but we found out it was very easy to take a mototaxi from the center of the town. Lacking in cleanliness but staff are friendly. Would have been very charming because the garden is beside a the gushing river.

Ok for an overnight

Stayed for two nights with a friend as part of our trip around the sacred valley.
Had a triple room for the two of us - this was clean and functional, if not fancy. Towels were provided upon our request.
Breakfast was rolls, jam, eggs, hot drinks and juice. It was advertised as from 7am but we did have to wake the staff up for it!
The best feature of this hostel is it is a one minute walk from the train station - ideal for an early start! 
Staff were minimally around but helpful when required. Wifi worked. We didn't eat lunch/dinner in the hostel - I'm not sure if anybody did! The place seemed a little deserted with most rooms unoccupied. 
Would I stay again? Yes, definitely before a train

Great location, pretty good hostel

PROS: Free breakfast - simple but good (bread rolls, 1 egg each, fresh juice, coffee). A step away from the train station for Peru Rail and Inca Rail. They stored our luggage when we went to Machu Picchu for a night. The place might be hard to find since the only sign you see is El Bosque Restaurant. 

CONS: 
Staff didn't speak much English so communication was a bit of a challenge. It's a bit of a further walk from the town center.

Convenient, comfortable place overall

We stayed in this hotel for a night. The location being very close to the train station ( 2- minute walk) was very convenient for us since we had to take the early morning train to Machu Pichu. We stayed in a triple bed room which was very spacious and very good value. The room and the bathroom was very clean. Hot water was available whenever we needed. The bed had enough blankets to keep us warm and we did not need any heater. The free WiFi worked well in our room. The hotel is right by a small river which is kind of nice. The restaurant downstairs serves lunch and dinner at a very reasonable cost. We had ordered Aji de Gallina, Quinoa soup and some grilled chicken. Everything tasted good. Since we had to leave early the next day (around 4:15 am), the owner had given us breakfast packets the night before which consisted of a banana, a cereal bar, a ham sandwich and a chocolate bar.  
When we left the hotel early morning, there was no one in the reception area. We were wondering as to how to wake someone up to open the main door for us. But fortunately we were able to open one of the restaurant doors ourselves.
For the price we paid, we were extremely satisfied with this hotel. The hotel accepts only cash; no card. I would highly  recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a budget accommodation in that area.
