I don't usually stay in this type of hotel, but I stayed here for a night.  Hot water, clean sheets and bed, refrain full of goodies in my room, Curtesy breakfast,  nice art on the walls.  It is about a block from the Plaza de Armas,  It was very handy.  They do have an elevator.

We stayed in this Hotel in October 2014.  This hotel is located close to Chiclayo's main square, therefore one can find whatever he needs quite easily.  The hotel room was clean and the size was good.

The breakfast consisted of bread, a glass of juice, tea or coffee and a small portion of scrambled egg.  The hotel staff were quit helpful even though their English was very limited.

I would not mind staying again in this hotel.



A good stay

I stayed in Chiclayo for several days to see the archaeological sites of Sipan and Tucume. and stayed at Hotel Central.  Chiclayo is not very large, so not much to see in the city proper, but the location of the hotel was about one block off the central square.  The room was small but tidy.  The bathroom was extremely small (difficult for larger adults), and a bit dated.  I thought the room was a bit more expensive considering the amenities, but would stay there again because of location.

Clean but basic room, conveniently located in Chiclayo

This location was very nice in chiclayo. The hotel is located 1.5 blocks east of the Main Plaza on San Jose Street. within walking distance of Avenida Bolognesi which has all the main Bus Terminals. 

I wanted to stay near the main plaza because you can easily find anything you need around the main plaza in any town. The staff was friendly and courteous. This is a 2-3 star hotel. Price depends on the room you are staying at. I was a solo traveler and i stayed in a very nice but very small basic room. Room was about 6 feet by 8 feet with a twin bed. Bathroom was clean. There was a TV in the room with cable. If im not mistaken the room i was staying at was 60 soles per night which is about $20 dollars. Breakfast was included(bread, jelly, juice, coffee and some eggs scrambled). 

They do have about 2 computers that are complimentary to use for the guest of the hotel. Those looking for a clean centrally located hotel and mid-range price would definitely like this hotel. There is nothing special about this hotel that makes it stand out but the service is good and the room are clean.

Centrally located In Chiclayo.

My wife and I decided to visit the archeological sites of Sipan and Tucume just outside Chiclayo.  As we always do when planning a trip, we reviewed the accommodation options in Trip Advisor.  We generally look for  what appears to be good standard accommodation at a reasonable price.  There didn't appear to be any particular stand-outs in Chiclayo, based on the reviews.  We thought about the Gran Hotel as Lonely Planet rated it a 'top-end'  hotel while Trip Advisor indicated an average price of just USD29 per night.  However when we viewed the Gran Hotel website the price was closer to USD100 per night.   We decided that the Central Hotel seemed to best suit our preferences and, after reviewing their website, booked three nights at a cost of 90 soles (USD30) per night.

The hotel is perfectly located, just a few steps from the Plaza Armas.  We were a bit concerned about possible street noise but the hotel's rooms are to the back of the front entrance and away from the street.  Any street noise was a relatively faint hum.  Unfortunately, though, being a hotel with the rooms situated along both sides of a long corridor you will have to put up with door slamming by other inconsiderate guests as they enter and leave their rooms.  But this happens with any hotel.  We were there on a holiday weekend and there seemed to be rather a lot of it.

The room was large with plenty of space left after dumping the bags.  There was a (proper) double bed with a firm mattress, a wardrobe, a single person sofa, a small writing table with one chair, a mini-bar with very reasonable prices (I actually utilised the mini bar which I rarely do in hotels given the ridiculous prices they usually charge) and a TV with cable reception.  

Like the room, the bathroom was a generous size with water that flowed from the shower head like a stream rather than a spray, but it was hot and there was plenty of it. 

Breakfast was included and was the standard Peruvian breakfast of juice, bread rolls, jam, tea or coffee but there was the addition of scrambled eggs.  The hotel had a restaurant/bar downstairs with very reasonable prices. There is a computer with internet access for guests. 

Chiclayo has minimal tourist infrastructure and even finding a restaurant (as opposed to a cafe or fast food place) to have a meal is a challenge.  We thought we would try the Gran Hotel given that it was said to be an upmarket hotel.  We went one lunchtime to the 'Cappucino Cafe' and waited to be served.  And waited and waited.  There were only a few people in the cafe.  After 10 minutes or so my wife waved and got the attention of the waiter, busy chatting to the bar man.  He gave us menus, and never returned.  We waited for another 15 minutes, and then my wife pointedly walked over to the waiter, leaning at the bar, and thrust the menus back at him and told him what she thought of the service.  Probably couldn't understand her words but I'm sure he got the drift.  Given that level of poor waiter service we were glad we didn't elect to stay at the Gran Hotel.  

On the way back to our hotel we came across a small restaurant, called Mi Tia, at the south-western corner of the Plaza Armas.  Plenty of locals inside the restaurant part, and a throng of people at the fast-food section. The menu was only in spanish, but with our handy language dictionary we successfully received an excellent meal.  We went back again next day.

The archeological sites were worth the visit. Not spectacular in a Machu Picchu sense, but dating back almost 2000 years so worth viewing from a historical perspective.  The museum at Lambayeque, which contains the relics found in the tombs of Lord Sipan and Old Lord Sipan, was very impressive.
