The soup and porridge come from plastic bags, the soup is reused for up to three days. The cakes are frozen. Nothing in this cafe is made there, and the prices are insanely high. This place is an overpriced tourist trap using the old aesthetic to lure you in. Go there, take a look, but do not buy anything there, it's a waste of your money.

Nothing here is authentic

Here we felt like returning to living conditions far back in time and we enjoyed our three day`s stay during the Winter chamber music festival in Roros . Froyas house has a great location and we were met by a friendly hostess. Breakfast was simple, but sufficient. Wifi was out of order

Good old-fashioned feeling

Quaint B&B in charming old house. Not very friendly hostess. Stale bread at breakfast and small selection of condiments. Needs to improve skills in common dealings with people. Central location in authentic millieu.

Not friendly hostess

It's very small but cute. It's old but rustic. It's quite special but truly authentic. For those who love this kind of atmosphere, with homemade food & cakes, definitely go there ! For those who are looking after confort, space and giant breakfast buffet, do not. 
I've read that some people were really disappointed about this place but I found it as I expected, e.g. absolutely charming. So read carefully where you are going to in order to avoid disappointment (and complaining).
The host was quite welcoming and she offered us to split (we were 4 big adults) because one of the rooms was extremely small. She said that it would rather fit 2 adults and 2 kids. The bathroom was very small as well but again, this is a typical old-fashioned Norwegian house so do not expect the confort of some more modern B&B. 
Some people complained also about the breakfast. I mean this is a bit too picky. You get what you need, both sweet & salt. The host offered homemade bread with ham and cheese, as well as homemade marmelade and müsli. She is busy preparing cakes for the coffee shop so she won't have time to answer all your desires. If you want eggs, bacon, pancakes etc., you rather have to go to an hotell. But remember that you won't pay the same price either (this is Norway!).
As for me I've got my dose of exotisme and I would come back but maybe not in winter (old Norwegian houses are badly isolated).

Authentic & Rustic 

We stopped over at Froyas Hus on the way north and are really glad we did. It's a lovely old house faithfully kept in this old mining community and felt a privilege to experience. The rooms were small and basic but comfortable. In the evenings you have the run of the cafe area as it closes at 4.30pm, so it's actually quite convenient if you have a little one as we do - though if they are a screamer you'll be keeping the other guests up through the night too, so be considerate!  And the breakfast was really nice - including waffles for the indulgent. We would definitely come again and recommend!

Take a step back in time

Froyas Hus has a quirky and enchanting bohemian vibe that lures you in, and seduces you. It's in an excellent location, central to everything in Roros and the staff are tremendously obliging. The courtyard and out-buildings are the best part. You can grab a glass of wine, choose your favourite alcove and while away the evening with your traveling companion/s. The breakfast was lovely and delicious, as well.

It should be noted that this is not a place for less than easy-going types i.e. if you like everything to be clinically clean, or need more than minimal space in the bathroom and bedrooms. The building is historic and almost 300 years old; Thus, it’s tiny and 'homey' - so be prepared to make do. If you can get past these issues however, your stay will be more than pleasant and enjoyable.
