We stopped here for lunch on a day trip skiing around the area. Very friendly welcoming staff, we bought drinks and they allow you to eat your own packed lunch in the cafe downstairs. Cosy and a welcome chance to sit down for a rest! Just what we needed. The XC trail signage in this area can be a little bit confusing at times until you know your way around son if you want to be sure of not taking a wrong turn, use a map!

Cafe perfect for a stop

I was very fortunate to accidentally find Putten Seter during my search for places to stay in Rondane.  I knew nothing about the area and did not know what to expect.  The cottages were lovely, comfortable and clean.  The hosts Hans and Maj-Britt Svastuen were friendly, welcoming and generous.  The food was GREAT!  My kids had a fantastic time climbing to Formakampen.  My husband and I took the shorter hike.  This place is a perfect place to explore Rondane.  I will treasure my time at Putten Seter forever.

Amazing Experience!

We were two couples who visited Putten and had a night stay. We went hiking to Formokampen, which took approx 4 hours. Highly recommended. Ate "Rømmegrøt" and the plate of ham, good traditional "Rømmegrøt". Much recommended for those who haven't tried it, its a guaranteed good first experience at Putten. We also had the three course dinner, which was traditional Norwegian food at a very reasonable price. 

They have a outdoor hot bath, but it takes a while to fill up. Recommend to ask for it in advance. The sauna takes an hour to heat up, but was very nice. Bring sheets and towels, or rent it for 100,- a pair. 

Finally the hosts at Putten are really friendly, helpful and nice people. I highly recommend a stay at Putten, we are definitely going back. 



Beautiful place and nice people

Easy access to cross country skiing trails, friendly hosts, excellent dinners - a great place to enjoy Rondane and relax. Bring a good book, cards, and games for evening entertainment! You can borrow sleighs for free for a quick race in the hill next door. Good afternoon activity if you have extra energy left after a day of skiing :-)

3rd time visitor at Putten Seter, Høvringen, Norway

We have been visiting Putten seter twice as part of a "skiing from cottage to cottage" experience.  Rooms/cottages vary a bit, but those to the right of the main cottage are very good. Dinners prepared and served by the owner and local staff a great! Use mostly local products - high quality. Truly enjoyable place.
