Hacienda Iguana Beach and Golf Resort

We love this community and have been several times. Perfect non commercial; not tacky; chill community. The beach, pool, restaurants, surfing, biking, people are wonderful. 
If you enjoy surf and chill, come here. This is not cancun, thankfully, and that’s why we love it.

This community exudes a laid back, eco-friendly, surf culture vibe. The people are friendly, waves are world class, and the landscape looks more like a painting than real life. If you're coming with a group of 4-6 the beach front condos are the way to go. Larger groups should look into the numerous house rental options.

This property is well maintained. The houses facing the beach are stunning. The beach boasts some of the best beach breaks in Nicaragua. We found the staff we connected with to be friendly and polite. Security was a priority and we always felt safe and cared for.

Excellent time. Very nice, modern condo. Golf much better than expected and staff very helpful.

Nice condos, 1 master bdr with queen bed + 1 room with 2 twin beds, spacious apt with furnished terrace. Big Frig, microwave, toaster, basic kitchen utensils, dinning round table for 4, sofa, TV, wi fi, internet, hammocks outside. Perfect for a weekend or week getaway be it couple or family. Iguana beach is a gated private community of mostly american investors retirees as well as surfers. Beach is about 2 miles long, perfect for surfers, but no dangerous currents, clear water. They have a recreation center where they have a pubic pool, Pilis´ kitchen Restaurant,  (excellent food), beach volley ball, restrooms, "nap corner" with 6 hammocks in the shade and a Rancho pool Bar.

Very good location for a surf trip. The facilities are great and the beach is beautiful and very relaxing. It is important to know that there are no restaurant around but you can pay a local lady to cook for you if you dont like or want to cook. I recommend you arrange that before your trip. Locals are very nice.

A Wonderful Spot for Laid Back Surf Vacation

We traveled to Hacienda Iguana Beach and Golf resort in January 2021 after hearing positive recommendations from people who had previously vacationed there. Aspects of the resort were nice (the beach and one of the restaurants not next to the beach); however, the condition of the accommodation was abysmal. The place was very dirty and in poor repair, with showers that did not work and a rusted washing machine full of dirty laundry from previous customers. Bugs were everywhere, and we were visited by scorpions during the first night of our visit.

There are plenty of AirBNB alternatives that provide better accommodations while costing less than Hacienda Iguana's. We regretfully did not have a positive experience and look forward to vacationing in the future elsewhere.

Dirty and tired facility - beware of scorpions
