Location is fantastic - but you get the keys and breakfast at a different location.Building is really old but very authentic - though a bit cold in the room. Lovely breakfast though and staff were very nice.

No elevator. Steep staircase. These facts need to be mentioned in hotel listing. Did not receive instructions where to check in to pick up the room keys. After phone call I placed info was received to walk to another location to check in.

If there is at least 1‰ of romantic inside you, you will love this accomodation. Above small port full of sailboats, in a historic building with steep (really steep) stairs. Parking fee 1 EUR/hour from 9 to 17 excl. Sundays in nearby streets (max 4 hours) - for full day parking buy special voucher from Mrs. Postma who runs the pension.

Good choice

I arrived in Harlingen in the late afternoon by bicycle, after a long day in the saddle from Egmond via Makkum. I hadn't reserved anywhere to stay, so headed for the Tourist Office, which  was about to close. They very helpfully rang the owner of the Logement Garjen and secured the last remaining room for me. I was a little concerned by the price (66 Euros without breakfast) but I was tired and needed somewhere to stay for the night and gladly accepted it.

I was not disappointed. My room was very spacious and was comfortably and tastefully furnished. Most importantly, its three first floor windows looked out onto the street and the moored boats below, I couldn't have wished for more.

Breakfast was available for an extra 11 Euros at the next door hotel (Anna Casparii) and was very enjoyable.

I came away saying to myself I MUST return, both to the Logement Garjen and to Harlingen. I'd been to Harlingen with my wife and daughter 25 years previously and remembered that it was an attractive small port. This time I explored the harbour more than I had done on my first visit and was fascinated by the maritime heritage of the place (including a fleet of 70 sailing ships - yes, 70 !).

If you stay at the Logement Garjen, make sure you ask for Room 35. You'll love it !!

Very Comfortable Room with a View

The restaurant at this hotel was recommended by our B&B host.  They have a menu of slow cooked stews from many traditions.  I had the lamb shanks, which was melt in your mouth quality.  My husband opted for the non stew choices and had a fillet steak.

The dining room is attractive and had a good atmosphere and the waiter was very helpful.  Good food, good price.

A great meal

Very nice hotel/b&b right next to one of the pitoresque harbours.  Our room was spacious and had very nice interior, all wooden furniture, floors etc. Windows were towards harbour (not sure if we were lucky on that though). Main room and bathroom were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful (Thanks for the cooler and the ice! :). All in all perfect for a nice weekend trip with your partner.
