The place is very nice, very romantic. It is a typical Amsterdã house, which means very strait stairs. Has a charming decoration and a fantastic view. The room has a private bathroom. It is outside the room, but has a very nice adjacent room for cloth changing.
They have coffee machine and tea available. We saw the host only for the checkin and there was another guest at the adjacent room, but we didn't really saw or heard them. So, we had a lot of privacy.
Attention to the warnings, the payment is in cash on the checkin.
We really loved it.

Romantic 

I stayed there two weeks ago and to be honest I was really happy with the decision.

The location is absolutely amazing, nice and quiet area but totally central
The arrival process is quick, Kevin hands in the keys and pretty much after that it is like having a small apartment in the centre of Amsterdam 
Even though we got a basic double room, it was really cosy and comfortable. Nice decoration.
WiFi works perfectly on the rooms
Good coffee and tea facilities
Luggage can be kept in after checking out!

The only negative point we have during our stay was that the bathroom was a  bit old comparing with the rest of the room, it could use an improvement, our shower glass leaked out every time we had a shower.

Your own apartment in Amsterdam central

I stayed at the Amstel Canal Guest House for two nights in Nov. 2015. Upon arrival, I was a couple hours early, but Ken answered the door and got me settled right away, carrying my bags up the tiny narrow staircase and then showing me the ins and outs of the house.  As others have noted before, it is worth mentioning again that the canal view room DOES have a private bath, but it is just a few steps down the hall (with another guest room in between). The deluxe canal view room is stunning, with views that are to die for. The room is incredibly spacious, as well. 

While the bed itself was comfortable, there was only a duvet on it -- no sheets. This duvet was sweltering hot. I am one who is cold all the time, and both nights I stayed here, I woke up multiple times sweating through my shirt. The room itself is kept at a comfortable to cool temperature, but that duvet will burn you up. If the bed had sheets on it, and a lighter blanket between that and the duvet, it would've been a perfect night's sleep.

The bathroom is nice, with plenty of space to change clothes, and nice hot water with great pressure in the bathroom. I should note that the shower is rather small, though. My only complaint about the bathroom is that the towels are REALLY tiny. Some larger fluffier towels would be a nice bonus.

The property is very quiet and on a very quiet street, with Ken staying out of your way, only checking in periodically to make sure you are satisfied with everything.  I never actually saw any other guests, but it should be noted that the walls are quite thin, and I heard plenty of late night . . . ummm . . . "activity" from the couple staying in the room next door.  Just a heads-up. 

It is a quick 5-7 minute walk to the nearest tram stop (Waterlooplein - trams 9 and 14), and even walking alone late at night as a female, I never felt unsafe in the area.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely. It was gorgeous and quiet, and a good value.

Gorgeous canal view room!

We stumbled across this hidden gem online and I would recommend to anyone wanting to stay close to the centre. You can walk/cycle to most places from here, a walk to the busy Rembrandt square will only take you 5/10minutes. We stayed in the standard room and the room was very clean, tidy and the bed was very comfy which is always a bonus. The only thing that let the room down (it didn't matter to us too much as we were out most of the time but may bother others) was that there was no natural light coming into the room. There is a big window but it only looks onto 3 other high walls letting no light in. The room however looks exactly like in the photos you see online and is just as described. I imagine the canal view rooms are stunning!! It seemed quite quiet whilst we stayed here we didn't bump into any other guests, however one night we came back and could hear the girl talking on her phone next door... The walls are quite thin. We had a slight issue on arrival that no one was there to let us in but once I phoned Ken the owner and he was there within 45minutes... If this happens to you pop over to Amstelhock, lovely views and great food and drink whilst you are waiting.  Overall we had a great stay here and would definitely go again and recommend to others. You are very much left to your own devices once here which suited us perfectly.

Great location, clean room and just as described

A 60€ ride from airport to hotel , which is not bad.
A three person room, with little kitchen, dining table fully equipped. No microwave or stove but good to make sandwitches or salads. Coffee, tea, drinking water.
Confortable beds, clean room , nice little living room.
Walking distance from anywhere downtown.
We just saw the owner once when we checked in never again, but then again we did not need him for everything.
If you go to amsterdam this place is perfect and beautiful with canal viev if you ask for it.
Do buy a Holland  pass online it will safe you lots of time avoiding huge lines to get into places, we bought a a two day tram ticket,easy to understand and very cheap, less than 9 €. 
If you book through trip advisor you safe yourself trouble, the owner hardly answers the phone and is never around. If you get there you have to ring the bell on the left side of the  black wall.
