Hotel Babel

For the 3rd time in the past 6 years checked myself in in Hotel Babel. All these years two local businessmen own and run the hotel. Also much staff works there for long periods which is a positive sign. All reception and serving staff speak French and some of the receptionists speak English, but don't rely on it. But even when communication is difficult they are very helpful and do everything to correctly understand you. The hotel has a large cafe-area and one floor higher a restaurant (both open for public). In the restaurant alcohol can be served with a meal. The building is purpose built with some "open areas" so that every room has a window looking out over either the street or one of the open areas at the back. In both public areas as well as in the guest rooms a lot of brass furniture is used which is always fully polished. Also the daily room cleaning is very good: sometimes a tiny slow (taking a lot of time). The rooms are nice and large with a double bed and a seperate single bed:couples can share the double bed while two (no partner) guests can each use their own bed. Climate can be regulated via either opening your window or using the (vert silent) airconditioner. For cold winters central heating is installed in all rooms. Internet: Free WiFi available throughout the hotel: each floor has it's own SSID (all open) and at least 3 AP's per floor give good signal throughout. Speed and reliability of this Maroc Telecom broadband connection is in general good: only the relative frequent power dips or disruptions can interrupt the internet access for a minute per time. Other room-facilities: each room has a phone with direct public calling. Also a flat screen TV offers a choice of Arabic language channels and one French + German satellite channel is available. Apart from the dual beds mentioned each room has an open storage area (with curtain) for hanging your clothes and storing your luggage. Further one chair and a small desk to write or work on your computer. Large bathroom offers full bath and shower, a bidet for your feet and then of course toilet and sink. Complimentary soap and shampoo.
