Riad Souafine

Very refined riad in Medina, beautifully and richly restored in the full respect of the tradition. Bernard is a welcoming host with fine advice on what to do and see, where and how to shop. We learned a lot from him about Medina and Fes. And Hassan’s exquisite cuisine served with attention to detail and a lot of warmth has given us yet another insight in to the life of Fes. We’ll come back. We absolutely recommend the Riad Soufaine, you will never regret.

Wonderful and beautifully restored riad with attention to detail. Bernard the owner went out of his way to take good care of us from checking in, helping to navigate, offering advice, recommending places to go and just keeping a cautious eye out for our safety. Even giving us a going away gift of a beautifully and delicious box of cookies. Our room was lovely. The food delicious. I highly recommend.

A paradise in the Medina.
Everything was perfect.

Of course expensive, but it was worth it.
The rooms really comfortable, very clean and quiet. Bernard was very kind!
Great breakfast also.. We should have tried the dinner too. It seemed delicious!

Luxury, Historical, Fine Cuisine Overlooking the Medina and with great host who take great care to make your stay memorable. Bernard, the owner and his staff can whip up food from China, Morocco, Africa, Italy, France, Vietnam, Thailand, India, etc and has a stock of really fine wine. The rooms are large, and so are the bathroom. The morning and evenings overlooking the Medina is memorable. Tea in the courtyard is an unforgettable experience.  

I love the 3 course meals and desert very much, thank you Bernard and staff. I enjoyed also the fresh linens and luxury bathroom. Jalall thanks for your company to the Medina to shop and your great knowledge of Fez's history. 

Not to forget, the place is peaceful and quiet. One can rest well.

Jalal and Bernard are wonderful hosts in this traditional Fes style Riad.  The courtyard (again in a Fes style) is large and beautifully decorated with a fountain, tiles, orange trees, and wonderfully painted ceiling panels (painted by an artisan just around the corner that you can visit to see him working - we may get him to paint us some panels for our house in Canada).  

We ate in every night (3 nights) as we were a family of 6 who wanted to enjoy as much time together instead of looking for restaurants and were never dissapointed. Jalal served amazing soups, followed by wonderful tagines, and deserts.  He even cooked a special birthday cake for my wife as it was here birthday when we stayed there.  The sardine tagine we had one night was all of our favourites - wonderful subltle flavours.  The ingrediants were always fresh and obviously selected that day.

Breakfasts were wonderful and as at most Riads were mainly continental but with more food than you could eat. 

The rooms are well decorated. The rooftop pation has amazing views overlooking the medina of Fes - one of the best views I have seen in our two trips there.

Jalal will spend as much time with you letting you know about Fes, where to visit, tips for shops. He even collected us from the closest Bab carrying loads of our luggage himself and also when we left. 

On leaving we felt as if we left friends...we will definately come back and stay again

It was a very nice place with nice furniture, however for the category of the place (and the price) the cleanliness, the linens and towels.... could have been more accurate. They did not correspond. The nice terrasse with those amazing views were not well mantained, the room smell humidity, and the linens were very old. Besides of that, the breakfast was nice, and Bernard the owner, attended us well giving meaningful tips.
