My wife and I were completely happy after a week stay at Suites Coyoacan except when it came time to check out on Sunday. On Saturday I had made a special point to be sure our bill was paid and especially laundry and mini-bar charges paid because the woman at the desk said she did not work on Sunday. At departure the security man presented us with an itemized bill showing we owed for the laundry and mini-bar, the same $70 pesos we had paid the day before.  It was pointless to argue with this poor man so we paid again and he gave us a receipt which I did not receive on Saturday. 

We made our reservations by phone while elsewhere in Mexico. We held our reservations by credit card and on arrival were charged what we were quoted on the phone.   

Our suite was adequate, very clean and well supplied.  Our floor was mopped daily. We did not have nor ask for a kitchen. Everything worked. The Internet can be slow but this may not have anything to do with Suites Coyoacan. There are movies at the office if you wish to borrow them, some in English which we appreciated. There is a stocked mini-bar in the room for which you will be charged should you use it. The shower was very good. The queen size bed was hard which we like. The Inn is a quiet and peaceful refuge from the noisy city. Gated and 24 hour security. 

Coyoacan is part of a larger university area. It and the surrounding areas seem totally safe day and night. There are very few if any other places to stay in Coyoacan so it was nice to find such a pleasant place. The staff were always ready to help. Several speak English. 

We ate breakfast most mornings at a Sanborns which is across the street. There is also a Starbucks if you can't break the habit. One place we might suggest is the Sonora Grill at the intersection. Convenient, trendy, pricey, good service, good food, very friendly to foreigners. 

Coyoacan is a pleasant colonial district of Mexico City. Home of the Freda Kahlo museum as well as other good museums. There are a number of very good restaurants at or near Plaza Centinario and Plaza Hidalgo and within walking or short taxi/bus distance of Suites Coyoacan.   Calle Francisco Sosa is in Coyoacan, many historic buildings and museums and public exhibits not to be missed. The surrounding streets are lovely. Parke Viveros is a very large, beautiful, semi-primitive  park close by and well worth cutting through to go to Calle Francisco Sosa or just to wander about.  Also San Angel, another of Mexico City's upscale suburbs is within walking distance and well worth visiting. The metro (subway) is a two minute walk from Suites Coyoacan.   You can get to almost anywhere via the metro and it is extraordinarily inexpensive.  Taxis & buses are abundant.

Excellent location, excellent service

I was staying for two and a half week. Good thing is: the price gets lower the longer you stay. I was staying in the junior suite, if you want to make yourself a coffee in the morning, you might be out of luck if you don't get a room with kitchenette. So for a longer stay, I'd recommend bigger suite than the junior one. 
The room was clean and spacious, but kind of dark. Since it's ground floor, when one wants privacy, the curtains must be drawn, which is little bit annoying. I wasn't a big fan of the music played in the courtyard, but one can get used to it. My biggest issue was language barrier, since my spanish is far from perfect. Most people who I met in Mexico spoke english to some level, not the receptionist there. So when I had troubles with credit cards (beware, I had problems with both, visa and mastercard and I needed to do electronic transfer with extra charge!) it was quite hard to handle it. 
As for the location, it's very convenient. Close to Coyoacan commercial center and subway station, though to reach historical center of Coyoacan, it's 15 minutes walk (safe area though). There are many restaurants, caffes and stores around. To historical center, it takes 35 - 40 minutes by subway (to Zocalo).

Comfortable for longer stay, not english-friendly

This Suites looks like a set of apartments that were turned into a hotel in a part of town that does not have much in the way of lodging. First I want to say that the staff is really nice, very helpful with problems like the internet, TV,etc.  The suites are quite spacious and very clean and with good lighting and nice light-blocking curtains at night. The rooms have refrigerators, but no kitchenette of any kind, at least in the "junior suites." The hotel is a block from the Coyoacan metro stop and the Coyoacan shopping mall where you can find Sanborns, Starbucks, etc. so it's well located if you want to see the sights in the south of the city. There was no restaurant open on the premises on the weekend, no bar, no room service - just a few drinks in the "servi-bar." Also, no ironing is allowed in the rooms - and if you're here on the weekend, there is no service to send out clothes to be ironed - so if you have a business meeting to dress for on a Monday, be aware. There is supposedly a business center, but when I wanted to print out a document on Sunday, I was directed to an Office Max about a half mile away (I didn't bother.)
Overall, it's not a bad place, but I have to disagree with two of the recent reviews. There is nothing at all charming or "folklorico" about the decor - it's very plain, dull colors, and functional. And Suites Coyoacan is not really in Coyoacan, if what you think of is central Coyoacan with the market, lots of trees lining cobblestone streets, lovely stucco-walled homes, colonial churches, traditional cafes, nueva cocina modern restaurants, weekend artesania fair, great taco shops, and ice cream shops, etc. At Suites Coyoacan, you're about a mile north of all that - in an area that is typical of many big cities - apartment buildings built in the 1960s, lots of traffic in the streets, big shopping centers, some convenience stores open late at night, restaurants largely in the malls. So if you want to stay near central Coyoacan, this is not bad, but nada del "encanto de Mexico."

really nice staff, not at all "folklorico," and it's not in central Coyoacan

I stayed here with a larger group and thus I got to see several suites and rooms. Interiors are colorful and unique. They reminded me of folkloric style. Even though you can tell that the hotel has been there for some time and it is something you could call "retro", my room was clean and cleaning worked well. The service at the front desk was excellent, professional and trustworthy. My room was not that soundproof for noises coming from the hotel area. However, there wasn't that much noises from other guests and I wasn't distracted at all by the traffic from the streets outside the hotel. The location was good for our activities. If you need several rooms and suites (with a kitchen) for a larger group, this is a good choice for you.

Helpful staff and colorful interior

I was in this hotel and had an allergic crisis. The suite has old carpets and curtains and wool blankets. I wanted to check in earlier to go to another hotel and they refused to give my money back for the days I was not going to use. After arguing very much, they gave me a credit letter that I gave to someone in my Company to use, even though they gave 1 day less. I felt stolen and not respected as a consumer.
