My friends stayed here for 2 nights and it is in the best location in the city. Slap bang on the central main square and right next to the cathedral, tourist information and museums. Rooms are clean with aircon and the breakfast is unlimited. If you're coming to Merida for a cultural experience and to explore the city I  would highly recommend this hostel.

Best location in the city

We stayed in two other hostels in Merida and many others in Mexico.

This place is by far the best. Clean rooms. Cold rooms. Super clean bathrooms. Free breakfast with fresh fruit and a mixed selection of warm food. Extremely helpful staff. The most central location you could get....and on top of that it is pretty cheap, I think the cheapest in Merida.

Book in advance as it is very popular!

Hands down the best in town

This is the best hostel we have stayed in during our five month trip around the world. We found this place by accident after arriving in Merida a day early.

It was so good that we ended up cancelling our private room in a 3 star hotel for the rest of our stay in Merida.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the breakfast were absolutely amazing. It ranged from fresh fruit to scrambled eggs and pancakes or waffles! Delicious!

The dorm rooms have aircon which is automatically set to start at 7pm but even more amazing was that there was air conditioning in the toilet blocks. Absolutely unheard of!!!

Do yourself a favour and stay here when in Merida!



Best in Merida!

We don’t know how this place is making money! The best value for money we’ve had whilst travelling. Lovely clean dorms, perfect location on the square, large bathrooms and such an ample breakfast! Pancakes, eggs, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, granola, sausages, fruit juice and coffee. Welcome drink of juice was much appreciated. For what you pay you can’t go wrong here!

Amazing hostel, epic value for money!

We were very happy. Clean rooms, awesome bathrooms, towels and locks for lockers supplied. Fantastic breakfast! Only drawback was parking car anout five blocks away.

It was a great stay. If I could I wouldn't leave.

In our opinion this is the only hostel to stay in on a visit to Mérida. It's smack in the center (Centro Histórico), as the name suggests, directly next to the Cathedral and surrounded by restaurants and life. The took a private double room over looking the cathedral and loved it. Yes, they could fix things up a bit (the roof, for example, has a lot of potential but is currently just a place to smoke) and the building itself is in need of some freshening up. 

Pros: incredible location, great music, fantastic, well-informed staff (especially Alfonso), A/C in the room, spacious clean bathrooms;
Cons: A/C in the bathrooms (was very cold & a waste of resources which the hostel could redirect elsewhere), the breakfast was a buffet but didn't look that appetising (although the fruit, coffee and agua fresca were good); rooftop needs work, windows in the room don't open & there's a smell of humidity in the room, which however could be fixed with the A/C.

Look no further - this is the place to stay in Mérida.

The hostel in Merida

We enjoyed our stay at hostel catedral. The staff were really nice and it has a great location. However, there is little to no security. No keys to any doors, just 24 hour reception which was not there one night we stayed. There isn’t much of an atmosphere in the hostel, although on Fridays they have a pub crawl which was fun and a good way of meeting people! The rooms and bathrooms are unbelievably clean which was lovely! Breakfast was okay

Good hostel but no atmosphere

The building is old, and lack of maintenance. The first room assigned to me had mold, walls very duty, and the smell of humidity was very strong. I asked for another room and the smelly feet odor was penetrated. The bathrooms had a smell of draining water and the temperature was very hot making it hard to breathe. The sheets were not clean. I found another room in a hotel for the same price and it was excellent.
