AKVA Motel

Very nice and quiet, had that old Soviet feel to it. Rooms cleane and neat. Very good feeling. Not to far from centre by car.           Should visit this place. Much better than the regular hotels in the ecenter with all that fashion and keeping up woth the Kardashians styile.

Spiders in the rooms! A lot of them and big ones, bad communication with stuff, super not friendly! Poor restaurant, maybe breakfast was ok...so think twice if you wanna go there, old school service type

Reminds soviet times.
Room smelled smoke (even non smoking room)
Quite far from the city center at strange and not rally nice part of the city. Would not be easy to find without GPS or map. 
Clean, big rooms. Free wifi.

If you've ever thought to yourself, "I really want to go back in time to Soviet times" - first, perhaps you should get off TripAdvisor and seek professional help, there's nothing good about those times that isn't a lot better now... Second, if you don't believe me, book a stay at Motel Akva. 

Oh, never mind, don't bother booking, because it's not like they actually check the bookings and just look at you funny when you explain you have a reservation. 

The rooms are basically straight out of a soviet era snuff film, complete with a clear scent of having been smoked in heavily in the past; oh, and flies. So many flies. No air conditioning, naturally, though they do advertise cable TV and free WiFi (neither of which I tested). There are fridges in the rooms, but they aren't on, so will take longer than my stay to actually be of use. Perhaps if they'd checked the bookings, they'd turn them on in time? Perhaps not. 

Jelgava doesn't have too many places to stay, but for sure I won't be back to this one, unless I'm shooting a movie and need it to feel ultra realistic. 

Soviet Nostalgia at its Truest

This place was thoroughly awful. Communication with the Russian staff was very difficult, and if you're looking for a central town location, do not come here.

The dirty rooms (ours still had left over rubbish from previous visitors) were small and the vile colours of wallpaper and curtains were only barely tolerable.

The "restaurant" was closed at night and in the morning served flat, undercooked watery omelette with slices of tomato and cucumber on the side accompanied by dry, flavourless semi toasted bread that would have done better if it had been used as a dishcloth.

I'm sorry, but there are no saving graces for this place other than the price, which even then was anything but value for money.

Avoid at all costs.
