I thought the name was from the Silk Road (old commerce) but now I think it was because the onsen was really, really 'silk'-like onsen, glides off your arm, so silky! Really loved the outdoor onsen with its huge rock formations, Buddha statutes, occasional waterfall, and mountaintop fresh air. The lobby was nice, with vaulted ceiling and windows with bright sunlight. We were there later in the evening so the day-spa people were not a bother.
We didn't expect too much as this is basically a budget, day spa place but we were very pleasantly surprised.  The room was large, with comfortable beds. I especially appreciated the poems they laid on the pillow with origami cranes. I also liked the 3 different trash cans they provided so we could divide our trash without a problem (placed out of the way). The meals were large and plentiful with local ingredients, very delicious, and helpful about the local sake. Free parking, free wifi, hiking trails, and a really good shop in the lobby. (And it is close to Ankokuji Temple!
We've already recommended this onsen, all at a reasonable price, to others!

Silky Smooth Onsen with Great Night's Sleep!

Spent 3 nights in the private cottage on the New Year vacation. Overall it was very good experience (though we hoped it would snow) and the prices were very reasonable. You can use onsen hot spring at the hotel with 50% discount, which is only 400 yen (4usd), but you'll have to walk down the hill for about 100 meters, but it didn't bother us.
Kitchen is stuffed with all sort of dishes, cutlery and cooking appliances, but there's a huge lack of spoons (big and little ones) and normal sized mugs, you'll have to drink from tiny little elf-sized cups.
And the cottage looked like it wasn't cleaned for a while - dust on the shelves, the tissue became black after I wiped the counter, and we found 2 wallets with money of the previous guests and old TV remote control. 
And I wish there was a bidet seat in the toilet, cause it was freezing inside the restroom and bathroom. Living space was fine cause there was also a gas heater.
In general, it's a great place to spend some time with your family!

comfort for short getaway vacation

I was at the above hotel for 2 nights from 18 Feb 17. It's a beautiful hotel with good Onsen. But what strikes me is the personalised and impeccable service rendered by the hotel. I inadvertently left my phone in the hotel room no 303 when I checked out on 20Feb 17. By the time I realised it was at least 20 minutes after we left the place. My guide then called the hotel to check whether my phone was left in the room. The reply was yes and the guide then explored with the hotel staff on whether the phone can be despatched via courier to Kobe - as that was where we will be staying on 20 Feb 17 before heading for Osaka the next day for our onward flight home. After about 2 hours the hotel staff reverted that they cannot find a courier company that could guarantee that I will receive my phone in Kobe on the same day. Instead the Hotel staff volunteered to drive to Kobe- a 6 hour journey to from the hotel to Kobe to personally deliver the phone to me. At last as by the time we reached the hotel in Kobe - the phone was safely delivered to the hotel plus a fellow traveler's knee guard which she didn't even know that she had left in the hotel room.
Such is what I would call an Excellent Service. I could not personally thank the hotel staff as he or she had already left when we reached the hotel. 
It only leaves me to write u to thank the hotel and the staff for the excellent and personalised service rendered to me.
