27 reviewsWe started our maiden trip to Japan with a 2-night stay in Furumaya House as those were the only available nights during our 2 weeks in Japan. And what a treat that turned out to be! Sayaka and Nicolas are respectful, kind and hospitable hosts - they generously shared their home and life journeys with us and made us feel welcome m from the moment Sayaka picked us up at Ayabe station. Sayaka was a great chef and we had the most amazing breakfasts and dinners here. The meals really set high standards for the other Japanese meals we had in Japan thereafter. The sushi and onigiri made using “Nico-rice” was heavenly. The kids had the chance to learn how to make tamago-yaki and sushi rice. I love how Sayaka made use of fresh produce from their farm and the region for all the meals. We will love to return again some time soon. My wife and two kids have so much fun in Furumaya House. I still have to win a soccer match with Theo, their lovely son and we would have much to explore in the lovely region. My daughter penned in the guest book that she “enjoyed every moment” of her stay and my son really loved the peaceful countryside. We will be back.
