Il Vagamondo Guest House

The guesthouse is like a big appartment with 3 or 4 separate rooms for guests , some rooms are with bathrooms, some are not, so there is 1 shared bathroom, too. We liked our room with a big double bed and a 2deck bed, and with a private bathroom. There is a wardrobe with many hangers, too. The room is cosy, it's good for a family with two kids , though the light could be brighter , not enough if you want to read ( but we only slept there, anyway). The bathroom is equipped with a toilet and a small shower and a sink. Shampoos , shower gels and towels are provided. They were not changed during our 3 night stay , but didn't need it, so maybe it is done upon request. The guesthouse has a kitchen with a microwave, a kettle, enough plates etc. You can use the ref, too. But apparently you can't use the coffee machine, at least, we only saw the host using it when he made us cappuccino. Upon arrival he mentioned that we could use the ref but said nothing about the coffee machine, so we made tea instead. The host kindly mentioned that we could leave all the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink, he washed them later. The WiFi wasn't fast enough to watch a movie. An available hairdryer would have been much appreciated. The windows in our room (called "Africa") overlooked a small courtyard, so it was quiet there from morning till night. That's a good thing, as motorbikes in Rome can be very noisy. The location is great, close to Vatican and Ottaviano metro station, close to cafes and small grocery shops. Collosseum, Forum etc are in a walking distance. We didn't use any transport to get to all the main sightseeings. Our host Maurizio was very nice. He was kind enough to wait for us till 20-00 upon arrival, which was the latest time for check-in. The breakfast provided by the host consisted of a tasty big pastry (a big croissant or brioche with some filling), some cheese and a delicious capuccino, and it was included in the room price. As a coffee with a pastry is not enough for us for a breakfast, we bought some cereals and milk to add to it. But otherwise it was a good start for the day. The breakfast hours were since 8-00 till 10-30 which was very comfortable for us. A good deal indeed!
