Gasthof Trausberg

During one of my road trips and planning to drive the Passo del Rombo the next day my satnav bought me here. Turning the bend in the lower valley near the bridge above the river I was greeted with a sight that made me feel as though I had just passed over into another dream like world. The sun was setting over this lush green valley surrounded by the mountains and I felt this was already too good to be true. Finally arriving at Trausberg hotel I was greeted by the owner who was for my good fortune, excellent in English! I checked in and my room was perfect with a stunning balcony panoramic view looking out over the valley. Bedroom and bathroom area/facilities were excellent and exceptionally clean. I went down to take advantage of an evening meal taking it through from starter to an overwhelming chocolate cake ..... the food was first class, freshh and cooked to perfection. For my main course I think I may have experienced the best steak that I can remember! A brief walk around the property before darkness and you can do a very short loop of about 20 minutes past a neighbouring farm, what appears to be their own community emergency services station (fire and ambulance trucks were visible) and then across the the delightful church. From the church you can continue the loop down the steps and around back up the arrival road to the hotel. However, there is much walking to be had around here directly from the hotel. There is ample parking both outside and under cover. Later in the evening I used the bar facilities which were cosy. Wifi or WLAN doesn't quite reach the bedrooms so one is invited to use the bar area to get onto an internet connection. I found the connection suitable for my needs which included loading up a lot of photos. Sleep was great and breakfast was the classic choices of cheeses, cold meats, breads, yogurts, muesli etc. Clearly, I can only but recommend this place!! If it's helpful to know, German is the first spoken language here and right across this region.
