We had an absolutely delightful stay and highly recommend Agriturismo Canales. From inquiry, to booking, to our actual welcome and stay, it was truly a wonderful experience. The breakfast could be the very best you'll find, anywhere. A beautiful setting with beautiful people, as well. Nanni, Daniela and family are gracious hosts and we thank them for making our stay even more lovely than we imagined!

Simply wow!🤩

The farm is reached by a short dirt road that our hire car had no difficulty in traversing.

On arrival we were warmly welcomed. The views from the dining area, of Lake Cedrino and the Supramonte mountains, are breathtaking.

The accommodation was clean, tastefully decorated and air conditioned.

A traditional Sardinian breakfast was included. We also booked dinner at an extra cost - it was well worth it. Dinner is served at 20h00, with the beautiful views as a backdrop to the dining area. The food was traditional and fantastic. It is a fixed changing menu but with plenty to cater for all tastes. There are a total of about 10 tables, with the service very attentive and friendly.

We took the opportunity of booking kayaks with Francesco who drove us the 10 minute drive to the lake where we picked up the kayaks and lifejackets. We choose the longest route, a self guided one, to the source of the lake, about an hour out and a more relaxed hour and a half back, allowing for time at halfway to get out of the kayak, look around and buy some refreshments. We would highly recommend this activity.

Reliable wi-fi. The gardens around the accommodation are very well maintained and thoughtfully planted. 

We loved our stay here and thought it was excellent value for money.

Fantastic place and views

Peaceful, stunning place located on the top of the hill facing the lake Cedrino. Great atmosphere for relaxing for few days. Amazing food produced locally with great dinner and breakfast. 
Francesco, a great addition to the well established family business , offers kayak activities on the Cedrino lake.
I look forward to come back soon.

Simply a paradise in the heart of Sardinia.

It's easy to miss the place when you come by car in the dark. It would have been a pity, because once we found it we discovered a magnificent spot above the lake Cedrino, wonderful staff (family owned business) and great local food with very nice wine. 
The kayaking was super enjoyable, worthwhile to go all the way to the right and at the end of the lake walk up a bit to see the unique water source and a nice picnic restaurant. The evening we arrived the team was busy with show cooking for the well known TV show "4 ristoranti" / Sky Italia. Can't wait to see the show (sometimes in Oct 2021). We definitely will come back, fully enjoyed our 2 nights and every treat at its fullest.

Great place to be

The place is really ‘off the road’; to get there, you need to drive off the SP38, partially over unpaved country tracks (no worries, it is well signposted).

Once there, you will find various parking lots – enough for everyone…

The grounds are nicely designed and maintained, with some “lookout corners” to take in the beautiful views; even if your room is not looking in the preferred direction, you can sit there.

The spacious rooms are in bungalows (two rooms per bungalow) spread across the premises, facing different directions.

The interior of the rooms is simple but functional (one small wardrobe, small desk); there is no TV, no safe and no minibar (although you can use a common fridge in the public area), and there is also no WiFi in the rooms – bring a book...

The bathroom comes with a bidet and a single wash-hand basin; there is hardly any space to put your toiletries – bring a bring a hanging toiletry bag. Note that depending on your room, hot water can take very long (ie various minutes) to come out of the taps.

The beds are simple but ok; one pillow type is provided, plus extra blankets if you need them.

The windows have shutters, but they are mounted on the inside of the window frames – you can only keep the light out if you also keep the air out…

The windows also come with mosquito netting – for a reason (bring a strong insect repellent)…

Given the location, it is really very quiet (well, depending on your neighbours); unfortunately there is nowhere to switch off the external lighting, so not best suited for star gazers…

With so many positive reviews of the restaurant, I was unlucky that just the night I was there the restaurant was closed (a family reunion).

The breakfast (a serviced buffet, due to Corona) comes with a range of tasty homemade stuff, like ricotta (a must!) and Sardinian cheese, quiche and eggs, homemade marmalades, various breads, cakes and cookies, fruits.

Originally rather a ‘waiting position’ until my hotel became available, I’ll be looking forward to coming back here.

Great retreat

We loved every single second on the Agriturismo Canales!!! F.e. the welcome glass wine every evening, the very friendly family/waiters and of course the breakfast and dinner! We recommend to stay here at least 2 days - like we did :-)

just perfect

Recently returned from a stay at Canales with friends. Absolutely loved the place with its exquisite gardens and design, but the two highlights for me were the food and the service. Eat excellent breakfasts each day and a lovely varied menu evening meal. No choice on meal, but that made it feel very authentic for me, and such variety and quality. Perhaps could have done with a bit more vegetable, but I forgive them that with everything else. Thought the breakfast was superb. Pleasant rooms, many with good views. Particularly welcomed the excellent, friendly service of all of the staff who looked after us well and kept the place immaculate. Thanks. First time I remember giving five stars !

Wonderful stay, food and family/staff

Overall, we had a great stay here. First, the great things: 
* Clean and quiet rooms
* Friendly staff
* Nice views
* Good breakfast 
* Good air conditioner

Then some minus things, which I felt could be improved for me to give a 6-star :) 

* Breakfast finished at 9.30, which was too early for us and cleaners came always at 9.30, which was again too early for us. 
* There are no WiFi in the rooms, always had to go to the public area, which wasn’t so nice to hang out in during the evenings because there were people eating dinner there. 
* Too many mosquitoes 
* A bit far drive from everywhere else and the road was very bad. 
* Felt very “commercial”. I was hoping for a more cozy and family like experience, since it was advertised as a stay in a local farm house. Instead, there are probably about 12 rooms and staff was always so busy that they didn’t have any time to chat with us or for us to ask questions and get to know about their farmhouse. We also had dinner one night there and we would have loved to hear more about the food and what’s locally provided and what not but staff was just busy all the time. It felt like a bigger hotel than a local farmhouse. 

Great place with some improvement :)

We loved Agriturismo Canales. The setting - rooms, garden, dining area, views - are all beautiful, you truly feel immersed in Sardinian life. The hosts are so friendly and go out their way to help you at all times. Breakfast was great, there was so much choice from eggs, fruit, cakes, meats, cheese etc. Definitely opt in for dinner one night, you receive the most delicious home cooked meal along with homemade wine - come hungry. It costs Eur 30 extra pp. Lovely terrace outside our room where we had a takeaway pizza from a local place in Dorgali and a bottle of red from a local vineyard (Atha Ruja) one night which was lovely. When staying here we drove to Cala Cartoe which was beautiful, and also did the Gorropu Gorge hike.
