Muckross House Hostel Vintage Adventurous This might as well be called Muckross House Hostel. Don't expect 5 star hotel servitude, and you can ALWAYS make a Great stay out of it. This is an unforced, free environment, full of beauty and style for those who can recognise and appreciate it. Eventhough the dorm is redone since I was here last, with a new ensuite, carpet and beds, this still is a 100% retro style hostel. Boiling hot showers, but not when everyone showers at the same time. The hot water may temporarily run out. You have to find your moment. It's imperfection adds to it's warmth and cosiness; it's a warm nest. The owner is super generous but gets misunderstood. Simple homey comfy dorm in a grand house. There's always a bed for you, guest of Irish hospitality, in this beautiful, light hearted and adventurous environment. Absolutely safe and well supervised. Looks like you either love or hate this place. I love it. You could be delighted, enchanted even. It's beautiful tearoom with it's fresh scent of fire to linger in. Breakfast in the other tearoom with all the delicious cakes in the high season. I haven't discovered the restaurant yet. Very authentic with a lot of character. If you're lucky, you can have the experience of a great budget accommodation - commercial success is not the only key factor here - and truely be delighted by all the place has to offer, and the uniqueness of it, or you can have one of those days where you will just have a bed. In the off season some respectable accommodation owners temporarily accommodate people with urgent housing needs as is the custom in Ireland, on request of Irish policy makers. Ireland is more like one big family. It's a place to treasure in Tralee. I hope it will be there for a long time to come. Be nice to the owner.
