A fantastic home from home b&b. Patricia looked after us all weekend and the continental breakfast included in the room rate had lots of options to cover most tastes.
The room was clean and comfortable and the surroundings were beautiful and quiet.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone wanting a nice place to stay

Lovely, friendly, family environment. Beautiful location. Just outside of Killarney and great location for the National Park which it’s in.

Great location for Killarney National Park

The  home is in a beautiful setting but that’s about it. No one greeted us- in fact we had no contact with anyone until I had to ring to get tea at breakfast the morning. The breakfast was only continental. The other tables had finished and e dirty dishes sat on the tables. The website is out of date- they no longer offer riding. The home is outdated as well. For the cost- so much more was expected.

Disappointed

We stayed in a family room with two young kids which was plenty big enough for the four of us. The room was also spotlessly clean. The actual location is rural but only a very short drive from Killarney (10 minutes) and about 5 minutes from Muckross House and the surrounding national Park.  The grounds of the accommodation are rolling pasture and there are horses running loose in the evening but working or stabled at other times and the kids loved seeing them up close as well as the puppies and rabbits. There is also a small playground that burnt off some energy. 

The owner Maureen was really nice and cooks one of the best egg and bacon sandwiches I have ever tasted! 

Maureen also gave us a little tip on where to park for a lakeside beach that was great and led to a wonderful few hours relaxing on the shores of Muckross Lake in glorious sun.

I guess the final word is my kids; we have always stayed at Kells Bay in the past but my kids now say Muckross riding stables is their number one Kerry holiday place :-)

There is a pony trekking operation just at the end of the lane (under 5 minutes) from the accommodation.

Really nice place

The rooms at Muckross Riding Stables are clean and quiet. It is a little out of town and could be attractive to families as there is some space for kids to play. The hosts are somewhat distant, not unfriendly just distant, although this may be due to Covid. Don’t be expecting chit chat! There is little breakfast at the moment as the dining room is closed due to Covid. So average or a little under.

Reasonable 

I’m just back from holidays with my 3 year old son. I have to start off by saying that the location and grounds are truly breathtaking. You’ve to drive in a long passage and we were surrounded by gorgeous horses and sheep. I actually stopped the car to enjoy the view. I didn’t see any other animals, I heard some dogs but never seen them. 

Things then took turn.

We’d traveled late on a Friday evening after work so it around 21.30 when we got there and we soon discovered that we were unexpected guests. They had mixed up the dates. The lady that was serving us was an older lady and I kinda felt sorry for her but was close to tears myself having no place to stay late on a Friday night with a small child. To be fair to our host she managed to get us set up in a small single bed room. Everyone makes mistakes it’s only human and it’s how it gets dealt with that really counts. I have to state that I did get my money back for the night. However, it was an awful night, we could hear everything!!! My son didn’t get to sleep until after 11, the wall was vibrating with the volume of the telly, the bed and pillows were terrible. We’d no shower and had a shared toilet on the landing. I have to also state it’s very clean but is lacking some love. It was a terrible start to the week. 
The breakfast was basic. A bap to take away, my son got a croissant and juice. I actually felt guilty asking for a cup of tea it was super awkward, I’m not a fan of b&bs and this has put me right off. 
We were moved to a different room the next night also very basic.

This could be an awesome place for families if there was some investment put in its got so much potential.

Improvement badly needed

I'll start with the positive.  BEAUTIFUL grounds.  Very quiet, very private.  A very lovely spot.  The rooms were very clean.  

Now the rest, treated terribly.  We arrived late because of delay in flight which we communicated with hostess and were told no problem but our late arrival was not communicated to whoever was on duty and we were given a very hard time after a very rough travel day.  Our GPS brought us some terrible way to the house and it was raining and it was very stressful so being treated badly upon arrival only made matters much worse. 

The room was very sparse but big.  Bedding very dated.  Bed was very hard and uncomfortable.   

Next day, the breakfast was a total joke - continental is one thing, but please at least try - but then luckily someone else mentioned they had the B&B voucher which requires a hot breakfast so she reluctantly (she - never introduced herself) cooked us a very mediocre breakfast which I was happy to get. 

Then there was some mix up when I asked about a carriage ride and she thought I wanted to ride horses and when found out that we had misunderstood each other, she was so condescending.  We just got our bags and left our voucher on the bed and left without a word.  I've never felt so UNWELCOME. 

I really think this is all about money for this family  There is no warmth or friendliness at all. We went into the barn to see the puppies and the man who I assume was the owner did not speak one word to us.  I just don't get it.  You expect Irish hospitality and they have none.  I kind of wonder if they have just been doing it too long and have worn themselves out.  They seem to have many money streams attached to the property and they are older so I think they are just over it.  Pick another spot.  Killarney is amazing.

Much better choices out there.

Nice clean rooms. Good hot breakfast. Beautiful property with horses and sheep grazing on site. Our host Maureen was attentive to our needs and responsive to our inquiries. I would definitely come back. 

Very nice

Beautiful setting. Very comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was terrific, great variety. The owner/hostess was very friendly and helpful. Close to town, and right in the heart of the Killarney National Park area.

Beautiful place to stay

Not overly warm hostess and when we checked in, we were told that we could get breakfast for 10 Euro per person--I was under the impression that this was included in the price of the room.  Entry way and common room were smoky.  Stingy with towels/shampoo/soap.  The family room was spacious. The baby bunnies, sheep, horses, and puppies were a plus.
