Lisadell House B&B

A friendly, clean, and cozy place to stay. I had a welcoming greeting (with a much needed cup of tea) despite my late arrival, and was accommodated despite a ridiculously early start the next day. The room was comfortable and warm (I find B&Bs are often drafty this time of year)...and quiet (I was here for work and needed a good night’s sleep). Would definitely stay here again. 

Also regarding comment on lack of credit card payment option. This is pretty standard in Irish B&Bs. They are privately run and more of a home-away-from-home type of experience. Bigger hotels will accept credit cards, and that’s where you should stay if paying with cash is an issue for you. But if you are visiting Ireland on holiday, this is, in my opinion, one of the essential Irish experiences. I moved to Ireland from Canada 10yrs ago and it’s still one of my favourite parts of the country.

Cozy B&B

I was traveling a long distance to attend UCC for college, Multi night stays over the semester period. I had a prior agreement to stay at Lissadell for a set price on x days throughout the semester, It went ok on my first trip, He tried to raise the price but I reminded him of our agreement and he begrudgingly honored that. Unfortunately, Once I arrived on the second occasion I was told room was taken by a higher paying student and they gave me the door telling me they gave my details to another BnB which once i arrived to, was not the case, As a student traveling via a bus for college I felt this was not what a reputable BnB should have done, I also learned from the other bnb I arrived at that they have heard numerous complaints about this BnB. I would recommend people avoid Lissadell.

Worst experience Ive had

I arrived late at 11:30 pm and a man with not a single smile opens the door. I called in the morning saying I would arrive late. Anyway I I get to the room and he inmediatley makes me to pay in cash. I wanted to pay with my card. The man said that it is specified on their booking detailed that only cash payments.  I tried to read and find out were it said so on the booking reference or even on the booking.com website. I had to irish to an ATM by my self and get the money.

They did not have hot water' so my morning shower was cold! And this is Ireland not the Bahamas. I am not staying here again. Would like to get my money back after experiencing a cold shower at 6:00 in the morning. 

As I left early' I couldnt tell anybody abouth the cold shower. 

Weird host'weird place. Cold shower.

Breakfast was awful the bite I took,cereal was obviously there since last season as it was stale and the 'FULL Irish' got a full 3 minutes in the microwave.Never again

Nasty

This was, by far, the most horrible B&B I have ever visited in my life. The host was very rushed when she greeted us in her smelly house. (Her mouth was covered in food which looked pretty gross) The house smelled and had a lot of creepy dolls and weird ornaments in the waitingroom, the entire interior looked like it was from a horrormovie set in the seventies. The room was way too small and really dirty. There were long hairs on my towel and on the bed. Wi-Fi was terrible and the bedsheets were definitely lacking an upgrade. The breakfast was absolutely terrible, we heard the microwave whilst our host was preparing our breakfast. The dishes and cutlery were nasty and everything just smelled awful. To finish it al off there was a hair on my breakfast. Didn't take a single bite obviously. When we had to pay we found out that they only accept cash payments which is a lousy service in my opinion. We had to go out in the pouring rain to get money from the nearby ATM.

In conclusion: gross house, gross beds, (sorry to be really rude here) gross host and disgusting breakfast. Hardly slept in this house because I was creeped out by the look and the filthy sheets. Do NOT go here! Was happy to leave this place.
