Collection O Ubud Near Central Ubud Formerly Hotel Suly

This is my second time at SULY, and I’m glad I returned. It is an incredibly sacred space. The premises is completely vegetarian and smoke-free — but there is a designated area for smokers, like me, at the front. There’s also a pavilion where non-vegetarians can enjoy their own food. During my stay, there were some Yoga Teacher Training courses running, so one had to remain silent while walking through the beautiful gardens. The plants, flowers, and water features are magical. If you get bored, a stroll through the majestic rice paddies will soothe your soul — and I was happy to have a sparkling swimming pool, too. The gardens have many deities scattered throughout, so it truly feels like an honour to stay here. Humbled. I booked a suite room this time, so I had a bath and a terrace overlooking the Meditation Pyramid, with the rice paddies in the background. On a clear day, you can even see a volcano in the distance. The finishes are high quality, and although a few things could use a touch-up, the place is squeaky clean. For me, it’s a place of healing, as I get to meditate here in such peace. The Wi-Fi and air conditioning work well, and the staff are willing to do anything to help their guests. They even offered to do housekeeping every day, but I insisted once a week was enough. The linen and towels are always crisp and clean, too. There are so many beautiful plants in the hotel’s passageways, and they truly bring the space to life. The owner, Ms. Rini, showed me around the villas on the premises as well. They’ve been revamped and now offer a more luxurious experience — massive bathrooms, king-sized beds, and lovely views. Each villa has a different layout, and I believe one even has twin beds, which could be ideal for sharing. I really hope to book one of these private villas next time I stay here — they look to be about 50 square meters. There were also some Buddhist monks on-site, planting vegetables in the gardens — and just so Divine. Like, WOW! I feel like a better person just from spending a few weeks here. When I had an issue, I mentioned it to the staff, and they remedied it immediately. The staff are so, so kind — always smiling and more than willing to help with anything. They are doing their absolute best, and their willingness makes all the difference. Ubud can get really busy with traffic — buzzing scooters — but SULY is set back from the street, so you can’t hear a thing. It’s a true escape from the hustle and bustle. If you’re looking for a break from the chaos of life, I highly recommend a stay at the peaceful SULY Resort/Retreat. It’s just a five-minute scooter ride to the centre of Ubud, and there’s a 24-hour store right across from the entrance. Laundry is also available on-site. The regular rooms are all quite spacious and affordable, too. It gives off Ashram vibes — and if that resonates with you, you’ll LOVE this place as much as I (and many others) do. I can’t wait to be back! The team feels like family to me.
