This guest house was the worst guest house I have ever stayed. Cleaning facility was totally unavailable . No breakfast was given daily in morning. The bathroom size was too small. And also the room size was  small . The location was not also good but beside the guest , the ghat was beautiful.

Worst Guest House in my life

Since it was a family visit at Varanasi and old aged people were with me so I repeatedly asked the hotel manager how far was the main road from the guest house as my father in laws can't walk properly and he said 200mtrs.he asked for the half payment.I gave the amount trusting him as we were not sure about the place.but when we reached there and my father in law became sick  (as he has knee Problem and that is the reason i asked the manager repeatedly about the distance before make any payment)by walking more than 1km through a very narrow uneven road.the hotel manager misguided us.that was really disappointed for me.young people, people who can walk, can stay in such hotel..while in the beginning,before the booking, I repeatedly asked, he mislead me and we got into the trap .also the rooms were very dull and not cleaned.So we had to shift my in laws to another hotel.and since we booked two rooms already, we did not ask any refund.just politely requested him that we wouldn't be able to stay in the hotel...When we informed this to manager, he refused to understand the situation and behaved very rudely with me and my husband and asked for money for second day.....he charged us that we were telling a lie and blah blah...he was threatening us.I couldn't believe that he could behave with customers when the customer's family is in medical condition. thanks to the staff of hotel grand of Ganges who sent a motorbike to rescue my father in law from such guest house during the sickness...It is not about 1500 rs which we would give him if we would stay second day...its about his behaviour which has disappointed us and I will not recommend this hotel anyone who wants to visit with old people or wants a hygiene place.I hardly give bad feedback to anyone..but its my worst experience at Benaras. 

Very Bad experience and Bad attitude , Money maker with false guidance, Threats customers 

My partner and I stayed here for 6 nights, after trying a few other guesthouses in Varanasi. We enjoyed the spacious room and very comfy large bed, and nice lighting (non-fluorescent). The room and bedding/towels were quite clean. There was hot water and multiple electricity outlets. Wifi was spotty in our room. The guest house is just steps to the river Ganga and great cafes. Chill rooftop with river view and basic restaurant menu - we practised yoga and enjoyed watching the sunset, monkeys, and kite-flyers. Ajit and the other hosts were very kind, helpful, and quick! They checked in on me when I was sick, and helped us arrange transportation to the airport. No water filtration system, so had to frequently buy single-use bottled water. Overall, lovely stay!

Clean, cozy, and kind.

Everybody who is giving 5 points to this guesthouse they dont want to harm the family.
We left the folowig morning because there is no luxury at all. You pay 1 st class and you get 4th class.
He did not charge us the night which was reasonable. For the same price you get everywhere a better place. From 60 different rooms we had during our india trip was this the only deseption. So he is making promises which he cant keep. In my eyes is he not honest.

This is the first time I have ever written a review for a guesthouse or hotel before I have actually checked out. 
Buddha Guest House is a family run guest house with a small number of rooms, and in some ways can almost feel like a home stay. The family that run the guest house and their staff are very friendly and are lovely people. I was only planning on staying in Varanasi for three days but extended my stay, not because I wanted to see more of the city, but because I felt so relaxed at this place. 
I booked in advance via booking.com and was rung by the owner who speaks very good English, to help me organise an airport transfer. At no point did he try to push me to use transport that he would organise. He was honest and upfront with price difference between an airport taxi which I could book myself, and a taxi that he would organise. The difference was not a lot so I went with his taxi. I did this because this was my first trip to Varanasi, and despite being an experienced traveler in India I knew the alleys of the old city could be hard to navigate on first day. He had his very friendly young staff member meet me the taxi at the main road and guide me to the guesthouse. The driver was also very pleasant. The residents of the old city are very friendly and will direct you to the guest house if you make your won way.

The accommodation is of a basic backpacker/guesthouse style and the rooms quite simple, but they are very clean and comfortable. My room had a bed, couch, small table, wifi, private bathroom with hot water shower, fan and tv. There are other rooms available, some with a/c. There is also a hand basin in hall. 
I have spent more than a year backpacking through India on four previous visits, and this room may be compact but it was far cleaner than most in this category.
There is only a limited number of rooms so the place never feels over crowded. It is lovely to have the family living on the bottom floor of the guest house as it gives the place a very "homely" feel. 
I was checked in by Maa-ji as the owner was not in at the time, and although her English may not be perfect, she was very helpful and very kind. If you have any issues that she cannot resolve please wait and they will be fixed for you. 

The guest house has a rooftop seating area that has direct views of the Ganges. The first time you go up there you might be put off by the fact that it is enclosed with wire mesh. This does detract from the view but you will be thankful for it later, as the area is swarming with monkeys in the evenings. This mesh allows you to sit without being harassed by them. I spent many an hour sitting up there watching the families of monkeys while listening to the chants coming up from nearby temples, and even the call to prayer from the local mosque.
Being only about 20 to 30 metres away from the Ganges in the old city means you are far enough away from busy roads to almost never hear any traffic noise. You have direct access to the ghats via stairs that are only two or three paces from the entrance to the guesthouse. The location is superb. 

If you are looking for honest, friendly, clean and simple accommodation only a few metres from the Ganges, then stay here.

Excellent hospitality in a PERFECT location.

There is nothing luxurious in the 'de luxe room'.
The room was not clean. Actually filthy. The undersheets were used and stained. Dust all over.  No sink in the bathroom.  Shave and brush your teeth at a sink in the hallway. The showerdrain was full of hair. We had to ask for an oversheet. Only one towel.  No toiletpaper and when we asked for it we had to pay for it because it was 'extra'. The rooftop restaurant is a joke. Monkeydroppings on the floor.

Disappointing

Wé spend 4 days in buddha guest house and everything was allwright ! The staff is very kind and the rooms have everything you need.. so you can go without any doubt ! And from the rooftop you can see ganga..

Very Nice place !

The stay was a pleasant one, with pretty good ambience around the ghat there is a rooftop sitting available, the entire staff and owners were very hospitable. The location is close to 64 ghat and is near the river side

Good Hospitality and great stay

This place was wonderful. The owner was very friendly and helpful. He is around often as himself and his family live there. They stay on the bottom floor and the top two floors are guesthouses. He went out of his way to help us and offered great insight on India and good conversation. He has spent a big portion of his life building this place and he takes great pride in keeping it nice. The rooms are big, clean, and have a table and chairs inside. The beds are also quite comfy. They have a great balcony overlooking the Ganges. The river is located literally right outside the hostel. This picture was taken from just off the hostel steps. Take a chance you won’t be disappointed. 

Friendly and Nice

Guest house is just near the main ghat, it has clean rooms and very kind staff. We got sick with stomach and the owner of the place was kind and offered us to bring medicine. Internet could be faster though. Anyways I recommend this place for anyone.
