The Zostel was not what I experienced in other Zostels in India. 
The beds were visibly dirty and definitely not properly washed. The whole room was smelly and when you opened your locker there was a wave of bad and moldy smell which forced me to wash all my clothes after leaving the Zostel again. 
In the corners of the room you could see mold everywhere as well as in the bathroom. On top of that the bathroom was always so dirty, so that you really didnt want to enter it at all. Only after telling the staff several times, they came to clean it at least once while our stay there (3 nights). 
Also when we ran out of toiletpaper we had to tell the staff 3 times and then they also didnt bring it but just told us, where we could find it by ourselve. 
When we told them about how dirty this place is, they just said that thats the reason the price is so less and they are not having enough staff right now, which I dont find an reasonable excuse. If I book a place, I'm expecting it to be clean, thats not too much to ask... 
Also the flush of the toilet didnt work for quite a while. When we told the staff, they said that this happens quite often and fixed it after one hour. 
All in all really disappointing and not possible to compare with the great experiences I had in other Zostels. I would never go there again and cannot recommend to anybody. 

Such a disappointing experience

Must have been good at the time of inaugural (don’t be mislead by the swanky photos on their website and other places), now it stinks of alc0h0l and w€€d; quite unhygienic property it is. There are paid reviews on Google, they offer goodies/vouchers/meals in exchange of such reviews, so don’t be fooled by those reviews.

Approach route is too difficult, the narrowest uphill lane one can imagine. Difficult for amateur drivers.

The staff was found to be “high” on stuff since morning itself and behaved very rudely; kept us and others waiting for long time before even telling whether there’s occupancy available or not.

I had the opportunity to peep in the cafe kitchen which is situated at the 4th floor, believe me, authorities/FSSAI should raid the place for keeping such a filthy kitchen.

And it’s not even as cheap as it’s advertised, private rooms are pricey and for that segment there are millions better options available in Rishikesh. They provide no room service, etc. but charge a good ₹2.5k for private rooms. They are trying to brush off all this under the garb of so called bohemian or hippie vibe, but it doesn’t matters if there’s no cleanliness, well mannered staff, basic assistance services, etc.

So the bottom line is, this place should be on your “No Go List”.

And beware of the “gunda” staff here who even have the audacity of giving people death threats - photos attached here; Name of this guy is Prashant, and he’s known for his obnoxiously rude behaviour.

The worst hospitality experience one can have.

You need to give some training to your staff how to behave with guest. 
Worst guest service experience, one of your staff kuldeep still have to learn many things atleast teach him not attend guest in drunk state ,me and my friends stayed last night in your tapovan property and his behaviour was very unacceptable.

The propoerty is utterly mismanaged. Out of 4 days that I stayed, there was no water for 2 days. I had booked a private room and neither the flush not the taps were working properly. I had to leave the tap flowing for 2 hours to fill the bucket to take bath. 

The cafetaria has no AC and they wouldnot allow food to be taken to room or to common room. So basically, if you are having lunch you have to suffer in the heat.

Frequent power cuts, unreliable power supply. there are better places if you want to wfh from rishikesh. I saw dogs lapping water from the water pod, which is also used by guests to fill thier bottles.

Best part is on asking for better service, the response given was - Hostel hai, hotel Nai. Cheers!

utterly mismanaged property running only on brand name

Really enjoyed my stay in zostel rishikesh...staff is really amazing they are very friendly and helping ... During my stay we become very good friend ... Staff is really amazing ... Hope other zostel have Samy kind of people.. feel like staying with friends.special thanks to @dheeraj Pandey ,@muskaan,@aatish ,@kush,@neeraj  amazing people.

Rishikesh zostel 2 week stay

I came here solo with an apprehension of how it's gonna be honestly. But I made friends on the first day itself. People are warm and welcoming...I'm carrying home a load of experiences that brought me happiness. Also, the hosts are great. I'd say Rakhi and Sanjay did a great job of treating us! Cheers 

PS - Just book it, you won't regret it :)

I have been a zostelian from quite a while. Home like feel everywhere whether it's Jaisalmer, Pushkar or even Hrishikesh. 
We planned a sudden trip and it was dependent upon availability of accommodation at hostel due to my prior experience.. 
Hygiene, place of please, helping hands near by and lot much fun.

Hideout means zostel

Perfect for students. As it is affordable, occupied with many activities. Where you meet and interact with people all around the world. The place was clean and was comparatively quite as most of us need our personal space.

Zostel has been a great place to stay always. What makes them unique is there social life inside the property. people just meet and interact. The staff of Sanjay and Gargi at Rishikesh were extremely professional as well as friendly. They made sure we never felt any difficulty. Would give a five star! Go ahead and book.

Completely soulful and easy to go hostel

We were four friends and stayed in a four bed dorm room. The room was very clean and even smelled hygienic. The sheets were clean and blanket too. The staff is extremely friendly and will help you with any need that you have. You will not regret your stay here.
