Good Stay !

This is the fourth time I stayed at Oriental Inn and I will stay only in this hotel if I visit Chennai for US Visa Interview. The room is comfortable and clean. It is really worth for the money. They provide a bottle of water everyday, newspaper, breakfast buffet and complimentary drop to the OFC and US Consulate. The staff were very friendly.The location is very convenient to visit US consulate  and has good restaurants nearby.

Value for the money

Staff are really helpful, they treat you with great hospitality. Cleanliness in the premises which make your stay more comfortable. Convenient location. Definitely value for money.

Good for visa purposes travel, they provide free transport to embassy, rooms are ok, excellent service especially the front office people..nice eating places nearby..will certainlly choose this hotel also next time..

Good place and they offer complimentary food as well for breakfast but if ur a foodie,the breakfast offered isn't sufficient..
U can buy other things to eat and they aren't over priced and they do taste good!

Good

This was my second stay at Oriental Inn. My first stay was in 2011. Both times they exceeded my expectations in service. Even though, I enjoyed the stay in 2011, I booked amother hotel this year due to a relative price difference. But they charged me for every service. So I stayed there only for 1 day and cancelled my reservation for the subsequent days and decided to make a reservation at Oriental Inn. Interesting thing is that I got the reservation for Rs 25 (~ $0.50) less per day after hotels.com coupon code and cashback. Plus I got lot of complimentary benefits. Free breakfast, free internet, free television service (the other hotel charged me Rs.200 for Internet and Rs.200 for TV service per day), free 1 way shuttle (auto rickshaw) to OFS and US Consulate (worth Rs 300), complimentary water bottles per guest per day and complimentary newspaper. So I saved Rs.1700 (~$28) in 2 days for 2 guests when compared to the other hotel which was just across the road.The service was awesome with very polite and friendly staff. They also helped me by printing few pages of documents.The location of the hotel is very good. It is very close to Satyam Cinemas, Express Avenue Mall, Spencer Mall, US Consulate, OFS and many restaurants. I enjoyed my evenings by visiting these places.I strongly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a hotel near US consulate. I will never look for any other hotel in future for my US Consulate appointments

Excellent Service and Complimentary Benefits

From checking in till I left, I had a series of problems with the service. I had to ask for hot water, and the receptionist said he will switch it on (why would they not automatically do this on checking in?). They gave me a room that was apparently in someone else's name, so people who called for me, and someone who came to meet me, were all told I was not there even when I was sitting in the room! Language: I can understand that much of the staff won't speak English, but surely at the desk they need to have someone who can understand and speak it fluently ... I had a hard time getting my points across. They even attempted to charge me for breakfast (which was sent up in a tin foil, and was cold), though my booking clearly said 'free breakfast' ... apparently because of the same problem of booking me into the wrong room. And for 2 out of 3 days I was there, the wifi did not work.

Good room, poor service

As many reviewers have mentioned, the location is the only unique selling point of this hotel/apartment.  It is 5 mins walking distance to Music Academy which I visited during December 2017 for the music season.  The check-in was easy and the 24 hours checkin/checkout is convenient.  I was allocated a room in their Old block - the room was pretty decent with a TV, coffee maker, clean sheets and a good bed.  The room was cleaned everyday promptly.  The only issue i had is the shower cubicle, which is a 2 X 2 enclosure - a normal adult ( forget people who are big ), cannot shower in this place.  It is unimaginably Lilliputish !!!
I never bothered about their complimentary breakfast as I hogged on the lovely hot breakfast served in the Music Academy canteen.  On one instance, I tried a croissant and a cup of Hot Chocolate at Hot Breads and it was good and very decently priced.
Overall, a nice experience and as I said earlier, Location is the USP of this Hotel.

Close to Music Academy and US Consulate

very arrogant and unpleasing receptionist unfit to hold a post in hospitality. Shouting against a guest in a hotel charging 3700/ per day is unheard in the annals of hotel industry. I never forget the humiliation met with and really want to make a serious complaint but to whom? .
