We stayed just one night. The location is a definite plus, the staff is super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately it is very loud even if the owner requests the guests to stay silent from a certain time onwards. Apparently some guests do not care about others (it mig it have been a coincidence but for us it was disturbing). 
The house is very old bit seemed clean. It is lovely to be able to catch up with other travelers which is always enlightening. 
The fact that there is no wash basin in the room is a bit inconvenient.

Downtown Reykjavik

Stayed one night and we were underwhelmed with the guesthouse and experience.  The positive is the location.  Near the church and walking distance to everything.  Bed and bedding were uncomfortable.  Water pressure in the shower was not very good.  Wouldn't recommend.

Location is a plus, but that's about it.

This is a nice little guesthouse right in the heart of town. You honestly can’t beat the price or the location as it’s very near everything you want to walk to, including excellent restaurants. We also loved visiting the sculpture museum nearby. The guys that manage this place are very friendly and leant us some electronic adapters for our stay which we really appreciated. We had two rooms and they were clean and comfortable. The breakfast is pretty basic but appreciated. The only downside is that the water smells like sulfur but I suspect that a lot of homes have this issue in Iceland. We stayed for a few days in a luxury hotel that didn’t have this issue but we also paid a lot more and it wasn’t as close.

Great guesthouse in Reykjavik

Typical guesthouse in a perfect location if you want to explore Reykjavik. Unfortunately no B&B option was available. All in all not cheap but location made up for this and we had a very enjoyable stay overall.

Great location near the church. The host was warm and inviting, and the place had a lot of charm.

This guest house was a wonderful place. We spent 2 nights. The location is excellent, walking distance to downtown and many different attractions. It’s an older house with much artwork. The bathroom needs some TLC, but everything worked. The room was spacious. Breakfast is just cereal, toast and coffee, but you have access to a full kitchen. They did not offer any bar soap or a wash cloth. You are asked to take your shoes off once you enter the house, but they did have some house shoes that you could use.

❌ Horrendous experience at 'Eric the red Guesthouse'. I stayed here 2 nights over New Year's Eve aiming to enjoy my time in Reykjavik... little did I know about the surprise I was going to have the next morning. After my first night I woke up covered in swollen red bumps all over my face and body, itching like hell. I initially thought it was a food allergy but they got gradually worse and I ended up being admitted in Hospital where they confirmed the nature of my lesions and symptoms - bed bugs bites. So I proceeded to contact the team at the Guesthouse warning them about the SERIOUS public health issue they were facing and explaining what I went through as a consequence of it (needed over 3 weeks of medications and ongoing skin treatments by my dermatologist - still 3 months later). I was more than happy to provide them with written and photographic documentation and I was mostly hoping they'd be empathetic enough to reimburse me. However their answer was really vague and disappointing. They showed zero compassion and didn't offer any kind of solution to compensate me either. 

***Please bare in mind that bedbugs can move from one site to another by traveling on items such as clothing, luggage, furniture, boxes and bedding. They can crawl about as fast as a ladybug, and can easily travel between floors and rooms in hotels or apartment complexes. Bedbugs don't care if their environment is clean or dirty. All they need is a warm host and plenty of hiding places.*** 

So for your own sake and healh, stay away of this place! ❌

BED BUGS !!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!

Extremely nice host who was very helpful during an ice storm. Parking is off site but less than 1 block away. Right across the street from the Cathedral and walking distance to the rest of downtown and restaurants

Good place for good price

We really loved our stay at Eric the Red Guesthouse. If we were ever in Reykjavik again, we wouldn’t hesitate to book this place, we loved it

-PERFECT LOCATION: walking distance from the main bus terminals, town, restaurants, and Hallgrímskirkja church
-COMFORTABLE ROOMS: warm and comfy private rooms with a wash basin in. There were plenty of radiators to dry off our clothes after a day in the rain and snow.
-EXCELLENT WIFI
-GREAT KITCHEN FACILITIES: Iceland can be quite expensive in terms of food so it was really great having a kitchen stocked up with essentials to make breakfast and meals
-SUPER FRIENDLY HOSTS
-SUPER CLEAN BATHROOMS
-GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY

And as a bonus the owner has a very cute dog!

Absolutely loved our stay here!

I really liked staying in this B&B. I had a private room with a private bathroom. Everything was clean and I liked mostly the chance to stay in a private room but having access to common places like the kitchen where I could meet new people and chat with them. I also had free access to coffee, milk cereals in the morning even if the breakfast was not included. The guy from Serbia in the reception is also very kind.
