I stayed here for a few days after leaving Utila, and before heading back to San Pedro Sula to catch my flight back home to Canada and it was wonderful! The location is great and the staff are super friendly.
But the highlight of my stay was meeting Lenny! He told me about the hike and waterfalls at Pico Bonito National Park, so I had booked the tour the next morning. 
Lenny also ended up being my tour guide for this hiking trek, and his friend Willem came along to assist. They were both accommodating, helpful, and funny! 
They also take awesome pictures during the trek. After descending the mountain, we finished the evening off with roasting marshmallows on an open fire just off the river bank, cutting up fresh watermelon, and washing it all down with ice cold Sala Vida’s!
I highly recommend Hostal Guacamayos in La Ceiba :)
If I could give 10 stars to Lenny- I would!!

Great Day Trip to Pico Bonito!

I stayed in the hostel ( private room) for 3 nights and I had a wonderful time.
Mayra and Kevin are amazing and always very helpful! 
The room was spacious, with air conditioning, hot water, and a huge bed! 
Free coffee during the day! I wake up every morning at 4, and the coffee was ready at that time as well! 
I will come back for sure!

Great stay!

We missed our ferry to Utila in the morning and so came here to spend the day rather than wait in the ferry terminal. The staff were very accommodating, allowing us to shower, have some coffee, use the wifi etc. So much so that we decided to stay the night and use the next days ferry. Centrally located also and the staff are knowledgeable of the city!

Friendly and Welcoming!!

A cool place!! I really like the location, in the center, just next to the local market (which is amazing by the way!!), 5 minutes from the sea and about 20 min from the city beach (recommended in the evening!), and 5 min from the central place with the best baleadas ever in the evening (look for a yellow tent!) 
The people of the hostel are lovely, many tours are proposed from here, and they can of course help you with your practical questions. 
The dorms are nice, with a bathroom included. Think about bringing a lock (or you can buy one at the next shop) since they have lockers but you cannot close the door of the dorms (I left all my stuff except valuables for like 7 days and never had any problem.) There is a nice shaddy terrasse and fresh Salva Vida :) 
I really recommend it, and just explore la Ceiba it is a great, relax city, always music around (but the hostel is very quiet at night), nice people... :) and one of the greatest central american primary mountainous forest next door, Pico Bonito!!

Excellent position and lovely people

Pretty much the only hostel in town. Staff is friendly and ready to help. Clean beds and showers, with hot water. Free coffee whenever you want. Ask for a special deal for a ferry ticket to Utila or Roatan.

Nice place

We stayed here for one night before going on to the Islas de la Bahia. They were so helpful from the beginning because we didn't know where we were going and so they came to pick us up from the bus station. They are pretty central, and close to some great Baleadas locations. They had great prices, friendly faces, tasty breakfast, clean comfy rooms. we were even able to buy our tickets for the Ferry with them (which includes transportation to the ferry)! Really nice experience!

Very helpful and accommodating

To start with I have to clarify that I cannot rate the hostel itself because I only had to do with their shuttle service. With that being said I advise you not to book any shuttles to or from Las Ceiba with this company! I have been scamed twice by Carlos and his crew and that's why I decided to share my experience with fellow travellers. The first time I booked a transport from Leon Nicaragua to La Ceiba. That morning I waited at 6 am for their driver who didn't show up. I spent hours waiting that morning trying to communicate with Carlos which was not easy. At the end he told me a story about problems at the border the day before which led to his driver arriving very late in Leon. So he had to rest this morning.(But they couldn't send me an whatsapp/email whatsoever) I was advised to wait in a hostel lobby until the driver wakes up. But probably this will not happen anytime soon so he will leave the next the day to La ceiba - who knows... I then arranged another transport. On the way back to Leon I was with the same company (a dive school arranged the transport and I just found out it was the same company the next morning...) Again Carlos had an excuse for not leaving this day.This time the car was broken (unfortunately 30 minutes before departure so he couldn't notify me...) I told him that I had to catch a flight from Nicaragua and asked him to contact another company(Rooney) and see if they had any capacities. He told me that they leave at 6am (which is a lie) and that he called them and they already left La Ceiba (a lie again). After that I contacted them myself and they said Carlos did not call them at all and they could take me to Leon. 5 minutes later they picked me up. I was told that this is not an exception that's their method to make sure they just leave with a full van. With no regard for passengers who try to catch a flight. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM and do not believe Carlos he lied straight to my face more than once. I'm not a petty person who enjoys writing nasty reviews but this time I feel like I want to warn other people about their methods.
