I’ve been coming to Complexe Tropical for years. Owners are amazing, accommodating, and fair. There can be issues with power or internet from time to time but it’s Haiti, and if you expect more, you’re a fool...

Views of Jalouzie and interaction with ppl from Jalouzie are an added bonus if you speak Creole.

I’ve never felt unsafe or underserved here. 

Versus hotels in the area, Complexe Tropical is a win all around.

The care of the owner of the property and the cleanliness of the place. I don't think there is too many places you can feel welcome and comfortable like this in Haiti.Tropical bed and Breakfast is my home in Haiti.

Spent a long weekend here with friends and loved staying at Tropical.  We really liked the location: on a small road off the main avenues without being too close to hectic streets, and convenient to restaurants, galleries and activities.  Room was good: spacious and clean with a well-functioning air-conditioner and ceiling fan (for the hot days!).  Around-the-clock security helped us feel welcomed and safe.  Staff was generous with recommendations for things to do and places to go.  I'd definitely go back.

Great Experience

We spent an amazing 4 days here and had all of our needs taken care of.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  The room was clean and comfortable with reliable air conditioning.  The room had beautiful vista views of adjacent Jalousie.  The grounds are secured and safe.  Location is in the heart of Petionville with easy access to restaurants, night clubs and art galleries.

I can only summarise for room 5, although rooms 1 to 7, should be pretty much the same. First the good points.
1. On the lovely terrace you have an excellent and safe view of the shanty-town of Jalousie
2. Hot shower, provided the water is on
3.Small fridge provided - very valuable in the heat
4.Table and reading lamp - very valuable

The bad points and questionable practices are :

1. No breakfast is provided, despite the written agreement with hotels.com. Manager needs to clear this up with hotels.com, not the paying guest.
2. The female receptionist is unfriendly and unsmiling. She obviously does not enjoy her job
3. Rooms 4,5,6 - paper thin walls and roof - you can follow a telephone conversation next door / Listen to neighbours TV programmes
4.Stench of the toilet is nauseating - no visible reason
5.Kitchen : Source of loud and prolonged arguments - at daybreak
6.Power outages : Frequent and slightly annoying
7.Water outages : Can last for hours, if not days. Not being able to shower or to brush you teeth is very annoying. If you beg often enough, the water comes on again, but is then quickly turned off- again !

Bed & Breakfast, without the breakfast - or water...

First the good points - Room 5 :1. Great roof terrace with a with a panoramic view of Jalousie - a sprawling shanty town2. Hot shower - if there is water3. Small fridge - very valuable4 Table and reding lamp - very valuableNegative points : Not necessarily in order1. A world first, a Bed & Breakfast, with NO breakfast ! Never mind the written agreement !2. Unfriendly female receptionist - with " secret " password for Wi-Fi3. Rooms 4,5,6 - paper thin walls and roof - you can follow a telephone conversation next door / Listen to neighbours TV programmes4. Stench of the toilet is terribly nauseating - no visible reason5. Kitchen : Source of loud and prolonged arguments - at daybreak6.Power outages : Frequent and slightly annoying7. Water outages : Can last for hours  The location is very good. One can walk to the Caribe Tours Terminal. Supermarkets ( Giant ) are close.Given the above though, I would not recommend this Bed & Breakfast. Out of a rating of 1 to 5, I would give a two, to be generous.

Bed & Breakfast - without the breakfast - or water

Terrible location. Right next to the colorful and super noisy Jalousy shanty town. Poor welcoming (don't expect a water of bottle as you arrive for sure). Poorly maintained accommodation. I had leeks from the light bulb in my room and mould on the walls in the room. No cleaning for 48 hours... Just don't go!

Avoid at all costs

Wifi worked on a certain spot, the bed was uncomfortable, the TV didn't work! The owner doesn't treat her staff & guest with dignity and respect!!!

Not so good!!!!

Great and secured little spot at great price. I went down there to tour the country in 12 days a few months ago, Tropical Bed and Breakfast is one of the best hotels I've stayed in. If you're looking for comfort, friendly staff for a price that won't break your wallet; look no further!---and by the way, the food is amazing!
