Beautiful setting with great wildlife and knowledgeable staff. Spider monkeys and coatis are easiest to spot in the mornings, and there's a butterfly house and impressive gardens. A path leads to a secluded beach on Lake Atitlán. Easy tuktuk or walk from Pana.

Relaxing spot near Panajachel

Reserva Natural is located in the hotel
Zone, about a 10 min tuktuk ride away. While there are usually tuktuks waiting in the hotel parking area, they aren’t there later in the day. The hotel also has an on-site restaurant that stops serving food at 5P.

If these 2 things are not deemed to be showstoppers then this place is a total charmer. The folks that work there are friendly and always ready to help. The rooms we had were comfortable, clean and our boys enjoyed being that close to nature. Coatis roam the grounds and even come up to where we had breakfast. Access to the reserve is included and is beautiful. We were able to do easy hikes, walk across several hanging bridges and see monkeys and coatis. We also did the zip line which which features 8 lines and 3 of them are super long and high up with great views of the lake.

We spent 4 days in Antigua and 2 days here. In hindsight, we should have done 3 and 3 because this place was that charming.

Some useful info. The tuk tuks charge 10Q per person and I have seen them load up as many as 5 in their carriage. If you plan to leave for the main part of Panajachel early, make sure you get someone at the hotel to radio in a tuk tuk. Once you exit the reserve, a left turn takes you downtown. A right takes you to 3 tall condo buildings. There are restaurants located there as well.

Beautiful and close to nature

Arrived for one night, stayed for three and wish we coukd have stayed more. From the friendly and kind service from all the professionals at reception (ie Viviana), kitchen, guides, other staff, maintenance, the Atitlan hospitality was on full display. The lodging is charming, rustic and gives one the perception of being far away from it all, even if just a 20 min walk from busy Panajachel. The Reserva is a day trip location (various trails to walk / hike, zipline, cute animals to view and encounter), but at night is an oasis of nature and tranquility. Amazing stay and at also a decent price. Suggested for all types of travelers. A highlight of Guatemala.

An Atitlan Gem We Did Not Want to Leave

While we did not stay in the accommodations at the reserve, we did stop by to do the zip lining that is offered. We chose the Cables extremos and it was fantastic! The views were incredible and Paula and Alberto were great guides. The hikes to get to each landing were beautiful and not too strenuous on nicely maintained walkways. We crossed several hanging bridges, saw coatis, and passed a waterfall. After we were done, we walked through the butterfly garden until we were ready to leave. The whole experience only cost us about $55 per person based on the exchange rate at that time and it took about 2 hours to complete.

Awesome zip lines!

So for a $100/night hostel it is terrible. The natural reserve is nice but thats it, you are better off going for a day and touring around the butterfly reserve and mountain trails. Stayed there on a business trip, no one mentioned the restaurant closes at 15hrs and opens again at 8am of the next day. Went down from my room to have dinner at around 18:30 and there was no one around other than the security guard who was nice enough to help me order from the only restaurant that delivers there (the hostel is a bit off town). Oh also, I got fleas on my mattress and found out till the next day that saw all the bites in my body. The colleague I was with, got two bats inside his room at night.

Terrible experience, prepare to be by yourself with no assistance whatsoever

This is one of the most rustic yet most beautiful rooms during our trip to Guatemala. We enjoyed the privacy and cleanness of the suite. The room was literally in the middle of the reserve, surrounded by trees and animals. It was perfect for us. The staff was attentive and helpful. The food from the restaurant, including our breakfast every day, was super good. We also visited the butterflies sanctuary and the spider monkeys, which were inside the reserve. As one of the adventures, we did the Cables Ultra X-tremos and it was a lot of fun. We were the only two people on the tour, so it felt private. We went at our own pace and the guides made the trip FUN. Highly recommended!!!

Guatemala trip

Beautifully appointed cabins with balcony to enjoy the views!! Enjoyed the hikes through the reserve, the waterfall and the beach!! Lots of beautiful birds, butterfly garden and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds! They even had an owl they were rescuing! If you enjoy nature, must stay here! Limited facilities for food - they will arrange for tuk-tuk to take you into town! We stayed one night in town and one night here to get both experiences!!

Right in the middle of nature

We stayed at Hotel Reserva Natural Atitlan for two nights.  It is a beautiful place. Our room was so nice and super clean. I love all the windows. The free water is also nice. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. When you stay here you have access to everything except the zip lines and rope courses. It was amazing. It includes breakfast which was so super delicious. The food here is great and inexpensive. I did do the Extreme Zip Line. The men that were working the zip line were absolutely the kindest people. I really struggled with the speed and they even went with me to help me relax.  I would totally recommend the zip line here. It is also really inexpensive. If you stay here it is $35. If you come in from outside, it was $10 to get in and then I think $25 to zip line. Either way, it is so worth it.  My issues with the hotel is that it is so far out of town, they do not have dinner and communication is so difficult if you do not speak Spanish.  You have to take a tuk tuk into town which is cheap but it was dark and pouring outside and we were hungry and did not want to venture out too far.  I would suggest staying somewhere else in town and then just taking a tuk-tuk out here to the Reserva for a day. 

Just ok

Helpful staff, not very expensive. Our room was very pretty with rock walls, the shower was not to big but it was ok. The room had a beautiful view and during the night it is very quiet and peaceful, breakfast was ok.

Very nice

An average hotel. Went there from Saturday to Sunday, and is a good option for just spending the hight. Negs: A little noisy from the activity outside, not very functional TV. Pos: hot water, shampoo, soap, towels, comfortable beds. Very kind staff.
