The facilities are very basic, but nothing is missing. Nonetheless, the view from the balcony isthe best I have seen from a guest house in a while. It sits in a very unique location, close to the center of an old and beautiful village. The owner is super friendly and the food is delicious. If you arelooking for a different experience and don,t mind giving up comfort just a bit, this is perfect.

Different, breathtaking

We had the greatest time in Zagoria. the Guesthouse is great, The owner and his wife were very very friendly and the view is wonderful. The village is a great starting point for great tracking in the area.

The best place in Greece!

I want actually write lots of things, but I will try to stay simple. First of all, the village is very nice snd picturesque! It is located on the too of the mountains Tzoumerka at around 1200 metres!!! It is one of the most traditional places in Greece!
Now Napoleons' guesthouse is simply GREAT!!! The rooms are clean, tidy and well decorated with the local way. Overall both the rooms and their restaurant have a very warm atmosphere!
The traditional cafe-restaurant is also very-very good. Everything they cook is great and they are specialized to the local cuisine of course. Furthermore, the most of the ingredients(meat, vegetables) and the tsipouro are homemade!! 
Napoleon and his wife are great people, who make you feel like part of their family and they try everyday to offer the best they can!!! Their goal is to offer the best experience you can have at their village... And they achieve this!!!! 

One of the top life experiences!!! 

Arriving there, a village crowned by its past glory is waiting for you to discover it. I could never imagine that a place like Kalarrytes village still exists. Napoleon Zanglis is the owner of the guest house/restaurant/store in the center of the village. We stayed there for 3 days. The place offers a variety of activities like agrotourism, birdwatching, hiking in magnificent nature. Reach history that encaptures the charm and the seduction of the authentic North Tzoumerka region.  The village has 5 residents, no cars are allowed. If you need some zen in your life, Kalarrytes is the best place to experience it. No city sounds, nor tiring noise.
The guesthouse is a wonderfull traditional place, some rooms offer fireplace as well. The restaurant/store is the heart of the village, that keeps its history alive. Napoleon Zanglis is a very worm host, willing to explain to all guests the history of Kalarrytes, that goes back to the 17th century. Back then the village was famous for the production of jewel made of gold and silver. The well known "Bulgari" maison, originates from Kalarrytes as 4th generation jewel makers. The village has a church "Hagios Nicholaos", in which survive artefacts from the 17th century, from the Greek rebilion in 1821 and from the second world war in the 20th century. 
As far as your staying is concerned, you may taste traditional recipes from Epirus among with local homemade products like "galotyri", which is like cream cheese. "Massondra", pie made with local herbs. Home made wine accompaning a vast variety of traditional recipes like "zigouri", 2 years old lamb, "gida", goat soup, chicken with tomato and capers. For breakfast local honey and home made marmelade from grappes by Napoleon's wife, Mrs. Lambrini Zangli. Not to forget Monica, the lady who runs the restaurant and makes guests feel like home. 
We will go back to Kalarrytes for sure!

Unforgettable experience

The place is simply excellent and so is the personnel. The building is beautiful and the smal restaurant is the best part of it with the rather particular decoration and warm atmosphere! Ask the owner to show you the cavern next to the main room :)

Original experience

It is not an easy road up the Tzoumerka mountains, but the view as you climb by car is astonishing. The village of Kalarrytes is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the whole Greece, and to find up there the warm family hostel of Napoleon Zaglis is the best reward for climbing that high. The rooms have a lot of wooden decoration and a real fire place,  from the balcony one has a stunning view of four different mountain picks. The hostel is at two paces distance from the traditional tavern of Napoleon, so there is no noise in the rooms except the sound of the river below, and the singing birds. Staying there for easter holidays has been the best experience we have had for the last years.

On the top of the mountain

Napoleon and his wife together with Monika offer everything a guest in this area will expect: Warmth, beauty, hospitality, decoration, food! It's all there and wrapped in an amazing mountainous countryside, which also offers breathtaking walking paths (to Sirako for example)!
If you are lucky, Napoleon will sing a song or two with his great voice, and the party will start!
