My husband and I stayed in apartment no. 5 for five days and I cannot rate it highly enough! From the moment we arrived (earlier than scheduled which wasn't a problem for the owner) Dimitri greeted us with a smile, some Raki and made us feel very welcome. 

It was the beginning of the season so very quiet and peaceful, we mostly had the pool and pool area to ourselves and the views from our apartment balcony were amazing! Sea view with rural views too. During our stay we saw a sheep herder and his flock daily, a rooster, goats, a lovely dog in the garden next door and a few cats (but not many). 

The bedroom was comfortable and the apartment had all mod-cons and all cooking facilities. 

The local tavernas and beach front is just a 10 minute lovely walk and the restaurant opposite the villa (run by Mother and Daughter) is a visit must! 

Half an hour by taxi form Chania airport. We hope to come back soon :)

Five heavenly days in this peaceful villa

Just finishing a 2 week stay at Rouladina apartment 3. Perfect for what we wanted: clean, well equipped & spacious apartment, great pool, lovely owners, sea views, shady balconies, quiet but convenient walk to an abundance of local tavernas & numerous mini markets. Gentle uphill walk to apartment from village will be very easy for most to manage. Beach 500m away and sea very clean. Stalos is a quiet conurbation on the edge of a busier strip of bars and restaurants that run for several km away from Chania, meaning you have the best of both worlds, whichever you are looking for. Ate at most of local tavernas in the evenings, that were recommended in Diane's guest guide book that was provided in the apartment (this is the best we have ever seen and was all you needed to assist your stay in every way) and food at each was really good. Portions are generally large so be careful not to over order. No need to order desserts anywhere as tavernas provide complimentary Raki, chocolates, cake and often fruit once you have requested the bill. All in all a brilliant holiday and excellent value for money. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Perfect fortnight

Situated up and away from the Main Street but only a 3-5 min walk. Lovely view multiple balconies, each room had one. Home made honey cake and a flask of raki and organic olive oil made by the owners on arrival. Rooms spotlessly clean - friendly cleaner, lovely owner and family who are available if needed, unobtrusive if not.The place is spacious and comfy with air conditioning in all rooms. Kitchen well stocked with utensils and crockery. Pool and sun beds clean and in good condition, inflatables were available to use. Don't bother packing any books to read, their library caters for all tastes! Gorgeous planting around the property adds to its beauty. I can't enthuse enough about this property and its welcoming owners - only to say I would love to live there!

wonderful place and hosts

Lovely apartment with great views.  Everything was very clean.  Very quiet and the owners are lovely people.  Would definitely recommend  this place.  About 500 metres from the town and beach.  There is a good family run restaurant just across the road

Would recommend these apartments

Booked this trip through Freelance - we were a family group of 19 which included 7 young children. Between us we rented 4 of the 6 available apartments. The owners (Dimitria and Manoli), who live on site, where there to welcome us on arrival and were very generous giving us all homemade cake, raki, figs and olive oil (from their own trees). My apartment (No.1) was light, beautiful and spacious - 3 double/twin bedrooms all leading onto the surrounding balcony, 2 bathrooms, large kitchen, living/dining area and fabulous views of the sea and hills. Air-conditioning throughout. The other Apartments the rest of the family stayed in all seemed to be fairly decent and spacious. I don't think they were as well air-conditioned though, and one did seem less well furnished than the others and in need of a bit of TLC (especially the little garden at the front of it) to bring it up to the standard of the others. There were a few issues in a couple of the apartments (loo, drains, no hot water) which when reported were quickly dealt with. 
The swimming pool and terrace were well maintained with plenty of sun loungers and tables. Pool towels were provided in all the apartments. The reception area had a lounge, shower/loo, well stocked library and free to use washing machine - excellent! The apartments were cleaned frequently by the lovely Joanna - always cheery and chatty - including sheet and towel changes. 
A short stroll down the hill is Stalos - lots of shops, good restaurants, bars and a beautiful beach. Good bus service to Chania and other areas along the coast. We hired a car so we could explore further afield (Knossos, Phaestos, Spinalonga etc). 

My only negative experience was regarding the 'quiet time'. Between the hours of 3-5pm there is an observed period of quiet time. Unfortunately we struggled with this  - it's hard to get kids (between the ages of 4 and 12) and some adults (!) to be quiet at the best of times let alone when they are on holiday altogether and playing in a pool. But we tried. 

So would I go back to Rouladina?Yes - Crete is a beautiful place and Rouladina was a lovely place to stay. 

Beware the Greek 'quiet time'...

We have just returned  from this group of apartments. All I can think is that's average. The bed is hard, no shower cubicle but shower over a bath with a shower curtain.
One big moan is the dogs in the local area bark, & I mean bark a lot. The internet is rubbish we used to walk into Stalls to get better reception. The kitchen is well equipped  but has I said it's ok
